Using Natural Products

Manuka tea tree oil and honey products provide two-fold relief from insect stings and bites.Manuka tea tree oil extracted from plants growing in thewild in the East Cape region of New Zealand's North Island is a specific triketone rich chemotype, and independent scientific studies have demonstrated that this oil is highly effective against gram positive bacteria.Did you know that Manuka is also known as tea-tree (or ti-tree) as it is said that Captain Cook used the leaves to make tea.

A dab of Strong or Mild Manuka tea tree oil or a small amount of East Cape Manuka tea tree cream will sterilize the area where the sting or bite took place and in addition through the anti-inflammatory properties of this oil, will also reduce the swelling and the pain from the sting or bite.

The following Manuka tea tree plant based natural products are available which are effective in controlling most forms of bacteria likely to infect the site of insect bites or stings and relieving swelling to the immediate area.

I voted "No" when asked if I'd been bitten by sandflies, but I'm not 100% sure. I recall something like this in New Zealand (Milford Sound area) and was bitten by a few of the little flies there - but not sure if they were sandflies. The photos reminded me of how my legs looked last time we went to St. Maarten in early November. It was still a bit rainy, and my legs were devoured by mosquitoes! I still have some scars! Eek! Good lens, and very helpful too! :) *Blessed* Kath

If you tear off a wild plantain leaf and chew it into a paste, applying that paste to a sting, bite, or cut will make it heal incredibly fast. Try immediately applying plantain to one of two insect bites when you get some and compare how they look just an hour later. It grows so prevalently in the south, at least, that it's handy almost anywhere outside.

In Hawaii living amidst a multitude of insects, I was seldom bothered by insect bites. now that I live in the mainland I seem to be allergic to every strain of insects this nation has available. No matter what the insect is, I swell up with a huge, hard circumference knot of pain that itches for weeks after the bites. I have scares now that i never had when living in Hawaii. The strain of insects in the mainland are vicious and there is not any thing I have found that gives any relief. Nothing OTC or prescribed helps. I guess it is an immunity I have in the islands, but lack in the mainland. Very weird.
