10 Fun Things to Do on Your Birthday

Updated on February 24, 2014

A birthday can be one of the best days of the year. All it takes is a little effort in the planning of the things to do on your birthday.

We will be covering 10 fun things to do on your birthday, however, the relevance of each particular item will depend on the circumstances of the person celebrating the birthday.

1. Take the Day Off
For the working stiff, a fun day might be as simple as taking the day off of work. Don't even think twice about it. Just do it. Call in and take the day off. How you go about accomplishing this one is totally up to you. You might just find that the most fun is in getting the goal accomplished.

2. Plan a Trip with Someone Special
A birthday only comes around once a year so make it special. There is nothing wrong with splurging on yourself so why not go for it. Pick out a destination you've always wanted to visit and plan an entire weekend. Don't forget to match you dates with the dates that your special someone is available on. You wouldn't want to book a weekend birthday getaway and have to go alone.

3. Buy Yourself the Gift You've Always Wanted
If there were ever a time to treat yourself to something special, it would be on your birthday. Is there something you've been dying to get for yourself? Has the cost been too high to justify?

Well the timing will never be better than it is on your birthday. There is no better justification, of large amounts of money spent, then a birthday so get it before you talk yourself out of it.

4. Take a Cruise
Treating yourself to a week of pampering is definitely birthday material and nothing says pampering more than a week long cruise. The only problem that could possibly come up is in trying to narrow down your cruise destination choices to the best one. You might want to refer back to suggestion number two and invite someone special to go along. A cruise is much more fun when shared with a friend.

Which of these would you most like to do on your Birthday?

5. Do Something Extreme and Memorable
What better way to remember a birthday then to do something you will never forget. The more extreme the activity, the longer the memory so make it good. Jump out of a plane (with a parachute on of course), purchase yourself a ride in a NASCAR race car or go bungee jumping. Whatever you decide to do, you only get one shot at it so choose wisely.

6. Have a Date Night with the Person you Love
If love is in the air, then it won't matter what you do as long as you are doing it with the one you love. Make it romantic and make it special. Dinner and a movie are always a fun place to start. How this night is planned out will be different for everyone because personal preference will have the biggest part in this decision. Just remember, the only thing that really matters is the one you're spending your birthday with.

7. Plan a Themed Birthday Party
This idea is customizable and, therefor, can be used by anyone celebrating a birthday. Consider their hobbies and extra curricular activities when coming up with a theme. If they enjoy going to the beach, then you might want to consider throwing them a luau or beach party. Taking your time on this one will guarantee a successful birthday party.

8. A Day at the Amusement Park
Gather a group of friends and spend the day at the nearest amusement park. Nothing says "fun" more than a day of roller coaster rides and funnel cake. You can never have too many friends with you at an amusement park so call everyone and see how many jump on board and join in on your fun day.

Treat Yo' Self!

9. Treat Yourself Like a King or Queen
There is a lot of potential with this fun idea. For women it might be a day at the spa getting a mani/pedi, facial and massage. For men it might be, well, the same.

The point is that this is your special day and you are King or Queen for the day. Treat yourself as such, or should I say, "Treat Yo Self!"

10. Plan a Fun Day with the Family
This option is another very flexible option. It can be customized to fit any family so be creative with it. The main objective is to have fun on your birthday so do whatever it takes to accomplish the task at hand. The best way to succeed is to get the rest of the family involved in the decision.

Happy Birthday!

The next time you find yourself trying to decide on fun things to do on your birthday, try out one of these fun birthday ideas. You'll thank yourself for it in the end!
