A Thanksgiving Day Prayer

Updated on April 30, 2017

Thanksgiving Day is a time of appreciation to God
our Creator and Provider, whose guidance and care
go out to us, and whose love is with us forever.

Thanksgiving Day is a time to reflect on the changes,
to remember that we to grow and change each year
from one season of life to another.

Thanksgiving Day is a time of changing seasons,
when leaves turn golden beautiful colors in autumn's wake
and they are crisp in the first chill breezes of fall.

Let us remember the true meaning of Thanksgiving Day,
as we see the beauty of autumn, let us acknowledge
the many blessings which are ours, let us think of our families and friends.

And let us give thanks on this Thanksgiving Day for all God has giving us this year.

Amen !

This week we celebrate the day of Thanksgiving. It means different things to different people; for some it's a religious holiday, for others it's more spiritual moment to reflect on the good things we have. For some, it's a day to enjoy times with loved ones; others dread the annual family gathering. Some see it as the golden opportunity to abandon their healthy eating habits and go on a eating binge Some tell the happy pilgrim story to all the children. Many may volunteer at a soup kitchen or at a food pantry in their church or town.

There are many things we can be thankful for this autumn season if we just think about it. I am thankful for all that God has done for me this year, I am thankful for His help and many blessings throughout the year. I am very thankful for having found or should I say stumble upon Hubpages, and found a great place to write, where the people are friendly and very helpful. I wish for all my friends and followers here on Hubpages and all the other people here has well a very blessed and safe Thanksgiving Day. May you all enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with your family and friends . Also I wish all the same for all my dear friends on Facebook has well !

Even if we do not celebrate Thanksgiving in my country, your hub told me about why you celebrate and how! A holiday to be thankful of what you got seems like a very good tradition! Great hub!

We all have our own reasons for being thankful and we sometimes find that although our lives are not perfect we still have good reason to be thankful. I enjoyed your thoughtful and compassionate writing of Thanksgiving. I too am grateful to share in the spirit of the holiday and spend time with my family. You wrote a touching and well written story of Thanksgiving. Thank you!

      Hi Tom,

Being thankful for all of our blessings is a daily prayer for many and for those who celebrate Thanksgiving as a special day of the year it is generally filled with the aromas of turkey and all the extras. One year my mother, husband and I donated time at our downtown convention center to serve food to the poor or homeless. Former President George Bush and his wife Barbara were right there along with the other volunteers helping to serve up food. It was so nice to see the community spirit! My husband and I may have to give thought to doing something similar this year. Sharing your beautiful words and prayer. Thanks!

Bev,I am sorry to tell you that your 4'6 flat bed-spring has little or no motanery value or a market place. They were an inexpensive widely sold type of spring popular between the two great wars and for a few years into the fifties. They are not more than a metal hammock with no support in the middle, but they do last forever, and maybe, just maybe, provide a less hospitable home to vermin than an upholstered box spring.Marshall Coyle
