Ahh, Spring...
tis the season
Ahhh, Spring! A time when dirty snowbanks recede and mud begins to enter the house on the paws of our golden retriever. "Honey, wipe his feet and his belly!" I cry out as our dog Zack comes charging in from the yard. Often times I'm too late and am able to trace his steps through our home...I am like a mud detective.
It's a time when robins come bopping and bears wake from their slumber, eagerly searching out food. The air is fresh and the breeze blows warm (on some days). It's a season of disappointment here in the northeast, because one day can be warm and balmy and the next can still bring snow,...old man winter refusing to let go.
It's a season of renewal...the house gets cleaned from top to bottom and stale winter air is released through open windows. The days are longer and brighter and more time is spent outside.
It's a season of garden preparation and a quick yard examination of what was destroyed by the harsh cold, snow and plows.
It's a season of exhuberance....of anxiously awaiting summer nights and the return of hummingbirds, of outdoor fires and long awaited barbeques... of budding trees and beautiful spring flowers that carpet the landscape.
It's a season when Zack once again frolics in the yard and chases the elusive, pesky chipmunks and red squirrels...when he throws himself down on the lawn and does a sideway shimmy...when he follows daddy around the yard while daddy mows the lawn...and always manages to end up with green paws.
It's a season to laze around and bask in the warm sunshine. It's when hibernating neighbors get reacquainted.
It's a season of life returning....and it's the season that I welcome the most.
