Minnesota Baking: Birthday Cake - Creating a Fun Multi-Layer Cake
Cake With Flowers
Total Time Seven Hours
The cake took seven hours to create. It was a layer cake and we had frosting in between each layer. We had several boxes of Betty Crocker Funfetti cake mix. Powdered sugar for the frosting. Pink food coloring. Vanilla flavoring for the frosting.
My daughter had bought candy letters to spell out Happy Birthday. She had purchased sugar goop for my granddaughter's name. She had marshmallows for the flowers and sugar glitter for the flower petals. There were several colors of candy sprinkles and some candy coated chocolate balls.

The Scenario
There were two pans of two different sizes that we used. One box of cake made enough to fill two pans. Directions on cake mix. Frosting was 5 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons Vanilla, 3 tablespoons milk, 6 tablespoons softened butter. Mix and frost cooled cake.
We baked the cakes. Put them on a cooling rack for a few minutes. Pulled them out. Put them on a plate. Put them in the refrigerator to cool them faster. Frosted them and placed them back in the refrigerator. The butter will harden and the frosting will set.
We cut circles of cardboard and put parchment paper on them and placed them between the layers. She had three small PVC pipes that supported the cardboard so the cake didn't smoosh when it was sat on top of the bottom layer.
