When I was a kid, I absolutely loved The Peanuts. What started out as a simple comic strip created by the legendary Charles Schultz has, over time, transformed into one of the most successful franchises of our time.
Despite its popularity with those of us older than 30, many kids (particularly younger children) have never even heard of these characters. If they have, however, chances are Snoopy is the only one they actually recognize.
Of course, this is a tragic turn of events that needs to be corrected....ASAP!
With that being said, consider introducing your little ones to Carlie and the gang. A great place to start is by watching It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Perhaps the funniest scene in It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown is the one where Charlie and his friends are out trick-or-treating.
Lucy, Pig-Pen, and the rest of the gang are seen knocking on their neighbors' doors and collecting tons of candy as a result. The only problem is that Charlie does not seem to be having much success.
Instead of candy, Charlie Brown keeps getting rocks. Every time he says "I got a rock' my son and I crack up. For some reason, we find this absolutely hilarious!
While the creators never come right out and say why he gets rocks, I am sure his too-holey ghost costume has something to do with it!

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Have you ever wished with all your heart that something was true even though all of your friends ridiculed for it?
This is the situation Linus found himself in every year at Halloween. While Charlie Brown and the gang were busy getting ready to go trick-or-treating, Linus was busy writing his annual letter to the mystical being known as The Great Pumpkin.
Of course, Linus, nor any of his friends, had ever seen this elusive being despite the fact that they have been waiting years for it to make an appearance. This year was going to be different. This was the year that all of his hopes and beliefs would finally be justified.
In a last ditch effort to get Linus to give up on this crazy notion, the gang stops by the pumpkin patch on their way to the first house. Despite their best efforts, Linus remains faithful and elects to remain right where he was awaiting the great coming!
Charlie Brown Costume
While this Charlie Brown ghost costume is certainly my favorite, you may be interested in a more traditional outfit. As such, this officially licensed Charlie Brown costume may be just what the doctor ordered.
In Schultz's classic comic strip, Charlie Brown is often seen wearing a plain shirt with offsetting zig zag style stripes. In the more modern color version, we learn that this shirt is, more often than not, a bright yellow with deep brown zig zag accents.
While this shirt may seem overly simplistic, most adults will instantly know that character you are going for. Chances are it will also result in a lot of smiles; just like Charles Schultz would have wanted it!
