Christmas comes once each year. It is a time to lavish our loved ones with good gifts. Which is the best gift that will leave a lasting impression upon those we regard highly?

The world celebrates Christmas once every year in many ways. The 25^th of December is an international holiday that is marked with pomp, glamour and expenditure that knows no bounds. Christmas has often been linked with superstition and beliefs that have little or no bearing upon matters of faith. It has gradually been transformed into a day when we remember the birth of Jesus Christ. The irony is that nobody knows when Christ was born.

People go out of their way to make merry hosting lavish wild parties. Others host banquets, buy expensive gifts for loved ones. Some people go into seclusion to meditate over the past, their successes and failures. For many people, Christmas is a time to remember your family and loved ones.

When buying a gift, the key issue in selecting a gift is personalization of whatever we choose. However, it is better still to appreciate what God has given to us. It is important to buy a meaningful gift. What is the best gift for Christmas? A personalized gift that is chosen according to the will of God will go a long way towards fulfilling the desires of his heart and also bless the receiver forever. How do we fulfill his will? God wills that we “Seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness and all other things will be added unto us”. God’s kingdom is wherever he can be found. He prefers to be found inside a human being like you and me. God desires to dwell in us. He wants us to be his habitation. We become righteous. How can we become righteous men and women? Simply trust, look up and say “Lord come into my heart and make me the righteousness of God”

A nice hat, cap, trilby, Stetson, fur or felt hat, in Christmas colors protects us from harmful radiation or the harsh blasts of the wind. It spiritually represents the helmet of salvation to protect our mind where key spiritual battles are fought. Let your Christmas hat or cap represent your helmet of salvation as you pray “Lord, let this hat be the helmet of salvation”.

The Jacket

A jacket, blazer or sweater chosen in Christmas colors protects our vital organs behind our ribcage form exposure to harm. They spiritually represent the breastplate of righteousness that protects us from the enemy’s arrows. Let your jacket be the breastplate of righteousness.

The Belt

A belt holds our cloths firmly together preventing them from interfering with our walk or work. Many people regard a belt as a piece of clothing that simply enhances our attire. A spiritual belt ensures that we walk in truth, which is a vital virtue in God’s kingdom. Get your loved ones a belt of truth.

The Shoes

A good shoe goes a long way towards protecting our feet from harmful projections on the ground. This ensures safe travel from place to place. There are many varieties of shoes to choose from. There are open shoes or sandals, closed shoes, boots, moccasins, clogs, stilettos and many others. God wills that our feet should be covered with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Be always ready to share the Good News.

The Word

One of the best gifts we can give to our loved ones is something to mold their entire being through the mind. The word in The Book (Bible) goes a long way towards transforming and renewing our minds. The Shield

Take the shield of faith. A shield quenches fiery darts from the enemy. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Exodus 25:1-8 says

“And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering. Of every man that gives it willingly with his heart you shall take my offering. And this is the offering which you shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair, and rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood, oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense, onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate. And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.”

Give a meaningful long lasting gift to your loved ones this season. When we put on Christ, he comes into us with faith by faith. Christmas without faith is dead and hence is not for righteous men and women.
