Classic and Modern Halloween Costumes

Updated on October 28, 2014

Who is That Supposed to be?

Witches and werewolves, Vampires and ghosts, monsters and martians children dressed up in a scary costume going round the neighborhood knocking on doors "Trick or treat" is all part of the excitement and fun of Halloween, free candy, and apples even candy apples and if you are lucky old Mrs Smith down the road in number 48 will give you a dollar because she didn't have time to go shopping today. armed with toilet paper in-case Mr Jones in number 65 is doing his impression of Mr Scrooge again. "We did warn you Mr Jones you earned this yard rolling once again"

Halloween is as much fun for the adults as it is for the children knocking on the door, it's a guessing game trying to work out just who that is under that mask or make up, in recent years though that guessing game has become a little more difficult for the poor unsuspecting adults as costumes have become more elaborate. "Oh its little Tommy from number 12 but who has he dressed up as I have never seen that character before".

Where has Dracula, Frankenstien or even The Mummy gone the costumes that we all loved the classics that we thought would never go out of fashion.

The Classic and the Modern Halloween Witch Costumes

The Classic Witch Costume

What would Halloween be without the witch she has been around from the very beginning of the Holiday and her loud cackling laugh will still be heard as she flies around on her broom stick with her cat enjoying the witches version of Christmas, casting spells and mixing potions and lotions this lady although ugly is always a hit at any Halloween party.

The costume featured here includes the dress which is made of a flocked velvet spider web design and a belt.

The Modern Witch Costume

Bring your little witch up to date and make her stand out from the crowd with the Drama Queen rocker witch, a modern day take on witches still a little Gothic but this little witch has it all going on and will look great at any Halloween party with her black and pink rocker dress, a corseted waist with plastic chains for effect and the classic pointy black hat to finish the ensemble off.

Whether you prefer the Classic witch or the modern witch Halloween would never be the same again if the witch was not there.

The Classic and the Modern Vampire Costume

The Classic Dracula Costume

Dracula is also another favorite Halloween character the caped Vampire is instantly recognised where ever he goes and his pointed teeth make him the hot favorite to win the bobbing for apples game anytime, The classic Dracula costume comes with the black cape which has a stand up Collar, a white shirt the medallion and the black trousers. dracula may suck your blood but he will stand out at any Halloween party.

The Modern Vampire Costume

Although the modern day Vampire costume is based on the classic Dracula design it has a more modern look and feel to it, with a flowing cape, collar down this time, the vest is purple and black stripped and has a black . Just add some makeup and fangs for the perfect costume.

The modern vampire may not be Count Dracula but he will take his fair share of the bites on offer while trick or treating.

The Classic Mummy and The Modern Mummy Costumes

Classic and Modern Halloween Ghost Costumes

Classic Ghost Costume

Ghosts and Ghouls roam around the earth every Halloween enjoying their freedom for the one night of the year that they are allowed out of their graves.

It was once the case where you would take an old sheet out of your linnen cupboard cut 2 holes for eyes and you would have an instant ghost costume, cutting up bedsheets these days though would probably work out more expensive than buying today's version of the old classic.

The classic ghost costume is a white silky fabric with printed facial features including eyeholes for your little one to see out of cut to size with ragged edges means that this costume will be a better fit than that old bedsheet your child always tripped on.

The Modern Ghost Costume

The Metal Skull Biker Ghost Rider is turning into a modern day classic with his faux leather jacket with attached shoulder pieces, Vinyl Mask with attached cap, Studded Gloves and wristbands, the ghost rider stands out from the crowd at any halloween bash.

Classic Batman and Modern Batman

Classic Batman Costume

POW! WALLOP! KAPLOOOOOEEE! we all remember those days of the Classic Batman series and the costume he wore The caped crusader wore a blue cape with a grey vest which had the bat logo on the chest, he also wore the classic mask with bat ears and of course the blue tights even today adults would recognise this batman in the streets but kids would tell you that he is not the real batman.

The Modern Batman

The Modern day Batman is a darker more sinister character, so much so that it is sometimes dificult to distinguish if he is the good guy or the bad guy. dressed all in black in this Muscle chest jumpsuit with attached boot tops, headpiece, cape and belt.

The caped crusader has undergone a massive transformation some say for the better others disagree, but no matter which of the 2 costumes you prefer you will be instantly recognised at any costume party.

it used to be that the good guys in movies wore white and the bad guys wore black, How things have changed.

Classic or Modern

Do you prefer the classic costume or the modern costume?

This is one fantastic Hub! I hadn't really thought about the classic costumes being redone in totally new ways nowadays. For me, it ain't a witch unless she has greenish skin and a wart at the end of her nose! ;-) Nice job, Jimmy.

I totally love what you did here... It's great to see how it's evolved but also that the throwbacks are still available.
