Coloring Books make great Birthday Party Favors

Kids love to color and a great Birthday Party Favor idea is a Coloring Book and some Crayons. This is a simple favor that is a classic, budget friendly and fun. I am going to share with you some ideas and ways you can take the Basic Coloring Book to a new level.

There are Personalized Coloring Books, Coloring Books for the most popular Birthday Party Themes, Free Coloring Pages you can Print to make your own and You can even make your own Coloring Pages using your own Photos.

So with a little creativity you can give out a party favor that is not only Personalized, but one that will allow your guests to be creative themselves.

Personalized Coloring Books

Personalized Coloring Books are great and it adds a special touch to your party favor. You can find a lot of Ebay Sellers offering these. The coloring books will usually come with your Child's name on the front cover as well as the back. You can choose whatever wording you would like to appear. Different sellers offer different sizes of Coloring Books and options so be sure to read the descriptions.

Use your own Photos

I love to be creative and this is a fun way to create Coloring pages using your own photos.

If you use PhotoShop you can take a look at this Step By Step Guide to creating your own Coloring pages in 3 easy steps.

Crayola just came out with a Kid Friendly way to turn your photos into coloring pages with their Lights, Camera, Color. To make a page using your own photo all you do is upload a photo from your computer - the site will drain your photo of all color, you can then add in a Background, Fun Objects, Words and more. The best part about this is that the kids can do it themselves. You can also create coloring pages without the use of your photos. To print your pictures out you need to enter a code - Codes can be found on specially marked Crayola Crayon Packages - 48,64,96,120 and 150 Sizes. The codes give you a specific amount of days you will have access to the print feature. This is definitely worth checking out and the kids will absolutely love it. I must say I am having some fun with it myself.

You can even have your child draw some fun pictures without coloring and you can add some of these to the Coloring Books for the party guests to color. Now that sounds like fun.

Free Coloring Pages

You can find plenty of Free Coloring Pages on the internet for any theme. One easy way to find what you are looking for is by doing a Google Search. All you need to do is type in the subject you are looking ending with "Coloring Pages" - so for instance - Wizards of Waverly Place Coloring Pages. You will turn up plenty of hits and find lots of great options to print. If you do not see what you are looking for in a web search then look through the images. It is that easy.

When i send the kids home with Coloring Book Favors I always like to add in some extra fun like - Word Searches, Fun Facts, Jokes, How to Draw etc...

I have added some pictures at the right of a favor I did for my daughter's last Penguin Birthday Party. More details for this Penguin Theme are available on my party blog - you can find the link to my blog on my profile. This was not a coloring book, but a fun addition I added to the favor bags. I created this using Word - I compiled different elements I found from the internet, personalized it, printed, stapled and added to the bags. I like to add in a little education where ever I can so I sent the kids home with some fun penguin facts. I must say I even learned some things I never knew before.

Really the limit here is your imagination and it is not hard to create a party favor that is Fun, Educational and Budget Friendly. So forget the bags of candy and useless toys - send the kids home with something you would not mind your kids coming home with and feel good about it.

Putting it all together

So now you have all your Coloring Pages Made - so How to you put it all together? There are many ways you can do that depending on how fancy you want to get. Make sure to have a nice cover - I usually print the cover with a thicker Cardstock Paper. You can add a saying to it like: "Thank you for coming to my party and making it colorful, Now add some Color to your day."" See Photo Example to your right. Use a font that can be left uncolored so they can color that too.

  • You can just staple it in the upper corner or add staples down the sides
  • Use a hole puncher and make one of 3 punches on the sides and tie it with Ribbon or Yarn
  • Bind It
  • Use Book Report Folders

Now attach your Crayons and you have the prefect Birthday Party Favor.
