Cool Christmas Technology Gifts for Men

Updated on October 16, 2016

Now that we’re in the run up to Christmas, it is now time once again to start thinking about what exactly you can get for your loved one this Christmas. Whilst he may already have a list in mind with things he would like, it’s always a nice surprise if he gets a few additional gifts that he never thought about before. To that end, we’ve compiled a list of some of the coolest Christmas technology gift ideas you can buy just now.

One step ahead of the game

If your loved one is a big fan of gaming on the PC as well as on Android devices, then the Gamesir G4s is an ideal present to buy. It mimics the shape of an Xbox One controller, but has a better overall feel and build quality to it. The D-pad on it is amazing, making it a great choice for playing fighting games on these platforms. Further, if your loved one is a fan of emulation on Android then this is the best controller you can buy for the platform and is a great way to relive those old gaming memories once again.

Included in the box is the controller, along with an instruction book and also a charging cable. This cable can also be used to connect the controller in wired mode onto the PC. It connects effortlessly in Bluetooth mode on Android, and should you want to use it wirelessly on the PC, then there is an included dongle hidden inside the controller for this task. It feels extremely comfortable, even after long playing sessions and thanks to its dual platform functionality, it is the best gaming controller currently on the market.

A more in depth review of the controller can be found on the YouTube video below.

Taking sound with you

For the audiophiles in your life that loves taking music everywhere, you can’t do much better than Bose. The Bose soundlink is an amazing, portable Bluetooth speaker that gives the listener full audio immersion. Whilst there are cheaper devices out there, nothing comes close in terms of sheer audio quality that you get from the Bose Soundlink II.

The speaker itself actually has a lot of bass behind it as well, so you’re getting a rich sound no matter what the track is you’re playing. Of course, you don’t need to just use this whilst travelling. It also has a 3.5mm audio in jack so that you can use it at home if you wish with your device of choice that might not have a Bluetooth connection.

Many people actually use this in their car, as it is a cheaper way of getting rich audio than upgrading the sound system in the vehicle. It also boasts an impressive 10 hour battery life, and comes with the necessary charging cable in the box.

Power on the go

With us all ever more connected to our smartphones and tablets, it’s only right that we’re going to be needing a lot more power in our devices during the day. Added to that is the issue that as batteries in phones get bigger, this also increases the charging time for your phone. For Android devices that have a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU in them, this issue has been addressed with QuickCharge.

However, you need to have a compatible charger for this. Added to this issue is the fact that you might be in a location whereby you can’t use a wall charger i.e. in your car, on a plane, or in a totally different country.

A great solution to this is using a powerbank. There are many powerbank on the market, all at varying prices. Generally, it is best to stay away from cheaper brands since these could seriously damage the battery in your phone. After the issues with the Note 7 from Samsung, it’s is clear now more than ever that safety when it comes to batteries is of the upmost importance.

A great portable charger that supports QuickCharge comes from Aukey. It is a 16,000mAh battery (allowing you to take it on flights with you) and has two output connections on it. This allows you to charge two devices at once. Aukey claim that you can charge an iPhone 6S four times on this charger before the battery is depleted on it.

This makes it a great choice to have in a car as a backup, or to use it on business trips when you need that extra burst of power but you’re not near a power outlet. It is a sturdy battery, and comes with a USB cable so that you can charge up the battery bank.

Better typing from now on

For many people, a mechanical keyboard is something that they’d like to buy, but it’s just too expensive for them. However, this is by and large because a lot of people are only focussed on buying mechanical keyboards with Cherry MX switches. There are other switch types out there that perform just as well (if not better) at a fraction of the cost.

The thing about a mechanical keyboard is that, especially for gaming, is that you can a better overall control compared to that of a bog standard membrane keyboard. One such brand that is offering an exceptionally well built keyboard at such a low price is Havit. They have produced probably one of the finest, non RGB, blue switches mechanical keyboard on the market which is also the same price as the latest PS4 game.

The switches themselves give a satisfying and audible click, and the overall design of the keyboard is excellent, as is the build quality. This is an amazing alternative to the overpriced Razer mechanical keyboards. One thing to mention though is that the keys are LED lit and not RGB lit. Regardless, the keyboard looks amazing when the lights are on. A video of the keyboard in action can be seen in the YouTube video below.

These are just some of the cool Christmas technology gifts for men this year and sadly there isn’t enough time to talk about all of the possible options. If you have any suggestions, please leave them in the comments section below and I’ll add them to the list so as to help others that are looking for cool Christmas technology gifts.
