Dare to Have New Year's Resolutions?

Updated on January 2, 2013

Dare to Have New Year's Resolutions?

Alas! The holidays are over:

We survived parties, church gatherings, and spending jolly times with family and friends.

All of the mystery gifts have been opened and decorations boxed up.

The house has been cleaned and ready for the New Year's.

What is missing? New Year's resolutions here we come!

Should we even bother with New Year's resolutions, which inevitably get broken in the first month of the year? What is on your list this time?

Spending more time with family and friends,

Spending more time exercising and focusing on physical fitness,

Be more health conscious when it comes to food choices,

Go to church more and be intimately connected with God?

How do we commit to our new obligations for the long haul? Consider these steps:

Make a list of your goals,

Speak to someone regarding your commitments,

Encourage family and friends to share theirs,

Remind each other of your obligations,

And if possible, do it together,

Last, but not the least, have a 'reward system' as your reach your goals.

Is it easier said than done? Yes, but it is more fun to team up with someone than going it alone.

When you visit your notes, you will be amazed at how much you have accomplished!

Dare to have New Year's resolutions? Go for it. Good luck and may God be with you in everything you do!
