Dress Up Your Christmas Tree with Silk Florals - Great Decorating Ideas for the Holidays

I am a bona fide flower aficionado. I love flowers - outdoors, indoors and especially at Christmas time. A couple of years ago I wanted to incorporate more deep plum colors into my decorations. I feel in love with silk flowers.

All I did was simply add the long stem silk flowers directly into the Christmas tree after all the other decorations were placed on the tree (including the lights).

The photos above are from a friend who took my recommendation and ran with it - complete with the mantel too! 

As you can see the same color adds some continuity to your Christmas theme. My colors are eggplant - the wild side of me is showing in my tree. It works well because I also have glass peacocks and other decorations that pick up the same purple color.

The poinsettia is an easy design - either red or white or as my friend has done both. It is inexpensive and very, very simple.

The tree had instant designer appeal because the colors of the silk brought the entire tree together. Additionally, the silk flowers filled in where there were a few gaps in the boughs of the beautiful tree.

I recently shared this information with a friend who incorporated the same idea but with silk hydrangeas and poinsettias.

Imagine the possibility - incorporate your own colors and have fun. There is nothing simpler - no cutting the stems - simply insert into the tree branches.
