Easy and Inexpensive Valentines Day Craft Ideas

• White String
• Thread
• Wax Paper
• Elmer’s Glue
• Tape
• Watercolor Paints (we used reds and pinks)
• Scissors
• Paintbrushes
• Glitter (if you like)
• Free Printable Heart Template

Using the template as a guide you are going to cut your strings using the template. Spread out some wax paper and put the heart shaped template underneath it. Dip your strings in glue and lay the strings out on the wax paper right over the lines on the template. Go to the site and read the step by step (with pictures) tutorial. These string hearts will have to dry for about 12 hours. Make sure the glue hearts are dry before you continue on to the next step.

Slide a piece of string under and around the top of your heart...this will make a hanger. Next fill one of the spaces with glue. Dab your paintbrush in the paint and then put the paintbrush in the glue to give your glue heart some color. Do this over and over until your heart is full of glue and the glue is colored in. Let these glue hearts dry for 24 hours or more...make sure they are completely dry.

Now separate the glue hearts from the wax paper, but don't bend the heart when you do this. Tie the hanger string in a knot and hang your window catcher.

• Red Cardstock Paper
• Cardboard
• Ribbon

• Scissors
• Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

This wreath shaped like a heart is so easy to make. Just take your time making the flowers, give yourself time to practice making them. It might be a little difficult in the beginning, but practice makes perfect.

The 3D Heart is one of the prettiest craft ideas I have ever seen. To make this sweet Valentine's Day heart you will need:

• Scrapbook or Card Stock Sheets With A Pattern - 6X6 size cut into 1" wide (you will need 9 strips)
• Something To Poke A Small Hole In The Strips - Like A Hole Punch
• 2 Brads
• Some Ribbon
• A Larger Sheet Of Patterned Paper Folded in Half To Make A Card

I found this simple craft idea at Grandparents.com and it's an inexpensive project to make ... and it sure is sweet! You will need:

• Marshmallows or Soft Candies
• Small Buckets or Flower Pots
• Foam Ball
• Toothpicks (I would use lollipop sticks...they aren't so pointy)

I like the lollipop sticks better than toothpicks if kids are going to be making this project. The toothpicks can be sharp and someone could get poked. All you have to do is fill the bucket with some of the foam, put the candies or marshmallows on the sticks, and jab them into the foam. You can use some raffia or shredded red paper to cover the top of the foam if you like. And that's it, an easy and sweet gift.
