River rafting trips provide a spontaneous and adventurous exploring for the entire family, irrespective of age. Drifting with the flow, and with nature as the only guide, the river trips provide an unforgettable experience. Planning beforehand and observing a few vital tips, your river trip can be turned into a very memorable occasion that will last a lifetime.

Setting a perfect location for your rafting trip and deciding on the family members who are rafting with you, should be considered well in advance. Ages and skill levels of the family members should be carefully evaluated and the rafting excitement should fit their capacity. At the same time do not plan with too much detail which can spoil the adventurous spirit.

Opt for a short and less adventurous trip if small kids and first time rafters are with you. An intense and hard rafting trip can take them off the water sport and also risk their life. A long and wild rafting trip can be arranged if you are experienced. The true spirit of river rafting exists in such trips. Thus, it is important to choose an ideal rafting location that suits the entire family.

Before you start the rafting trip, make necessary inquiry regarding the provisions you need to bring and what is offered by the rafting company. Check whether meals, drinking water etc are provided by the company. Always opt for all-inclusive rafting trips where you needn’t bother for such things. If any elderly person traveling with you has certain diet requirements, inquire whether you can carry the necessary food or whether they will provide.

Another basic aspect to be given proper consideration is shelter. Sometimes you will be required to provide your own sleeping gears and tents. Purchasing new compact tents can save space and avoid much luggage. Make sure that the tents offer enough space for the entire family and can withstand all climatic variations. However, be on the look out for rafting companies that provide sleeping accessories and tents to the passengers or even provide for rent. Hence you needn’t bother for such things and you can take time to relax and enjoy.

Make necessary arrangements for flight and also arrange your journey to the rafting location. Enquire beforehand from the rafting company, where you need to arrive. Many rafting companies have transport facilities that shuttle to and fro from the rafting site. You can collect all details from the tour organizer. Provide yourself comfortable and cool clothing. Swim suit or T-shirt is advised in summer season. Water shoes or sandals can be worn in the raft. Bring your sneakers or hiking shoes if you want to explore the shore.

Since there are chances of your belongings getting wet during the rafting trip, pack them in waterproof cases or bags. Even things in these waterproof bags can get wet so do not carry anything important that can get damaged. To make kids engaged in the rafting adventure, some rafting companies organize special activities and games. With precise planning and making a note of the various tips, your river rafting trip can be turned to a memorable one.
