GUJARAT KITE FESTIVAL

Uttarayan (Makara Sankranti) is the significant day when the sun starts to travel northwards marking the diminution of winter. The sky becomes too clear and breeze cooler. Among 2000 festivals the festival of Uttarayan is one of the marvelous festival in Gujarat.They have been worshipped as religious symbols but without any age,caste and creed separation.They are celebrating the holiday by flying different types of kites. They are showing their skills in kite flying. The size of the kite will vary from 9 inches to 3 feet.They are making traditional Gujarati feast and enjoying the day from dawn to dusk. Uttarayan is considered as a Hindu festival that points the awakening of the Gods from their deep slumber.They are starting kite making factories in advance as a thrilling and enjoying business.Kites are appearing as a symbol of history and culture of countries around the world now. The first kite was flown by China around Bc 1000.

INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL IN AHMEDABAD

International kite festival is celebrated every year on January 14.The 21^st international kite festival is being celebrated in Gujarat. Dr.Kamala ,Governor of Gujarat has inaugurated the festival at Sabermati River front in Ahmedabad,which is also being held at Dhordo and Mandavi in Kutch for next two days.The Chief minister Narendra Modi encouraged young designers for making new designed kites for improving kite business which give good help to the poor people in the state.The illuminated box kites (tukkals) removes the darkness of the sky and making more attractive on these days.People from USA,JAPAN,MALAYIA,BRAZIL etc participating every year in this marvelous festival with newly designed kites.Thus arrival of the International kite festival can attract tourists especially foreign kite flyers and leading to boost up tourism industry in the country.
