Halloween is Not Only for Kids
Halloween Costumes in Larger Sizes
Curves or a few extra pounds are not good reasons to stand on the sidelines and watch Halloween pass you by. Of course, a good fitting costume might be hard to find at local run-of-the-mill chain stores, because mostly they cater to kids sizes or one size fits all (which we know doesn't). This is why many plus size women and men turn to the Internet to find quality made costumes.
Depending on the level of self-confidence or where the costume is to be worn can be a deciding factor about the type of costume you're looking for. Halloween costumes are obviously worn in parades, to go trick or treating, but some businesses allow their employees to dress in costumes for the festive day. School parties can be a good way to brighten up a Halloween party. Kids love wearing costumes and so do a lot of adults.
If you're a plus size woman or man, some costumes seem to work better and are more comfortable than other styles.
Giggles The Clown is popular this year, and doesn't expose a lot of skin. Basically, the costume is a multi-colored polka dot loose-fitting dress with a ruffled collar and pom-pom buttons. Hair scrunchies, white bloomers with rainbow trim and polka dot shoe covers finish the costume. Add a wig and a bit of fact paint and you're ready for an evening of fun at a party or Halloweening with your kids.
Elvira is always a good choice for plus sizes. The dress covers completely (expect for a side-slit to show a bit of leg), has long-loose fitting sleeves, and exposes a bit of cleavage (but that's not a bad thing).
The ever popular wicked witch is always a good choice for any body size. Additionally, Adult-sized Alice in Wonderland, Goldilocks, pirate, Greek goddess, Cleopatra, Marilyn Monroe, 1950's costumes and lots, lots more.
Good choices for men that need plus size outfits are costumes that have a loose fit and are easy to put on and take off. Some men are not as patient as women when it comes to dressing in theatrical costumes and face painting.
The Grim Reaper is a long-time favorite for many guys. Of course it's very scary, but is so easy to put on and take off. And, of course there's no face painting needed, however the full mask can be cumbersome and get very warm if worn for long periods of time.
Batman is also a good choice for larger-sized men. The costume is usually made from a stretchy fabric, has a loose fitting cape and a half mask that does not cover the mouth. However, the mask will cover the skull and eye areas.
Costumes from the movies, such as, Star Trek, Toy Story, Avatar, and Ironmen are also good choices for men. The cowardly lion, tinman, pirate, disco dude, Outfits from the Wizard of Oz, Flintstones, or even a Whoopie Cushion are easy-to-wear costumes.
No matter what your size, there are lots of costumes out there to choose from. If you're looking for a plus size Halloween costume, buying online might be your best choice. Shopping for plus size costumes with online vendors will give you more size options and variety than most local stores.
Taking time to find the best plus size costume that suits your personality and size, will provide an enjoyable Halloween, and you will really enjoy those Halloween parties and trick or treating with your family.
