How To Be a Wise Host

Updated on April 4, 2010

Do you want to be a good person? There is a simple way that make you a good person. The simple recipes is “helping others”. I am not bored to remind us about this. We can’t life alone, because we are a social beings. We need help from others, whereas  someone else also needs our help. This is like a “take and give” pyramid. It mean When we always helping others, we can get good replies from others. We can not predict what kind of the replies form. Because only God knows about that. But we have good intentions behind this action, there is for goodness.

Now I get an interesting topic about family situation. This is actually simple situation in the family. I think If we want give our time to think about this twice, I think the solution inside this hub, make us smile and doesn’t think that as a big problem. Have you ever received the guests from out of town. Or your other family member from other town to spent the night in our home. Have you ever think to accept their as your guest.

For various reasons, because not all of us rich and not all of us are able to stay in a hotel with a high cost. There is not a big problem  in helping others, especially our family or our friend to stay at our home for a while. maybe just for one night only. Or sometimes  you receive a call from your relatives or acquaintances who want to visit your home. There are number of dilemmas appeared on the surface. For example, there is now extra bedroom in our house or special bed for your guest. Actually the guest is everything. We should happy when the feel happy. It little difficult for us who do not get accustomed to helping others. For example, afraid of a dirty house, afraid someone else will steal your things in your home, or fear that others will interfere your privacy. But don’t worry, with a pure heart of all problems will be solved.

However you don’t have too panic. Here are some tips for you to be a wise host:

Guest bedroom

If possible, provide a special room for guests who stay at your house. Guests will feel more comfortable if they can get a little privacy in a strange place. If there is no empty room in the house, you can let guests use the other family members bedroom for a while, for example, a child's bedroom. While children may be asked to sleep in his brother's room or in your room. Anyway, be smart in arrangements.

Alternative bed

If the number of guests who stay at your home beyond the capacity of the bedrooms are available and you do not have an extra bedroom, you need provide an extra backup for the bed to be held on the floor. You can invest some money to buy an air mattress or folding mattress which easy to store and it not take big place when it not in use.

Invite dining

Once they arrived to our home, invite guests to eat lunch or dinner on time arrival. If the guest refuses to eat a heavy meal because they felt full. There is better solution, we can provide cookies, snacks and a cup of coffee or tea as a welcome drink

Helping hand

Guests will feel more relaxed and don't felt as a disturbance if they allowed to help you. Therefore, no need to refuse when they offer to help you do the little things like preparing the dishes on the table before dinner, or lift the dirty dishes into the kitchen after meals and washes the dishes.
