How to celebrate your 21st birthday

Updated on June 16, 2008

A 21st Birthday Celebration

There are soo many possibilities, I broke things up based on possible scenarios.

If you are the family oriented type, and want to celebrate with family only, I suggest a dinner. Either at a favorite restaurant, or maybe they will each bring a dish to someones house. The best part of dinning at a restaurant is no one has to cook or clean up, the bad part is someone always has an issue on how to divide the check. Dinning at a relatives is nice, especially if everyone brings something. Maybe you can find some sort of charades, bingo,or board game for everyone to play. My family likes to play Scene It?.

If you would like to include friends with your family, a dinner can still work. If you are not too big a group, and can afford it, I would suggest a bowling alley. We have had a couple of my daughter's birthdays at one, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

If you plan to get a little wild and loose (and don't want to do so in front of family), invite your friends to a favorite night spot. Dinning, drinking and dancing can be a great time when done responsibly. I find getting to a club early, downing a few drinks (but not on an empty stomache), and dancing the rest of the night works best. By time I am tired and want to leave, the alcohol has left my system. Always drink with people you know, and trust! If dancing is not your thing, try a karaoke nightclub, concert, comedy club, play, city tour bus or just a movie(and dinner) with friends. Or,if it's just girls night out, maybe a stripclub.

If you've got the money, plan a real getaway. For a day,a weekend, a week, whatever. It doesn't even have to be out of state, maybe a nearby spa treatment with just a couple of close girlfriends. Maybe there is a nearby outlet mall you've always wanted to visit. A Vegas weekend maybe, where you can take in a show (I hear Cher will be there a while). I always encourage others (especially young people), to visit places they never been before, travel can be great. Road trips,Greyhound,Amtrack, cruise ships, airplanes, it's all good !

Well, I hope I helped somewhat. Have a great birthday !

My idea of a perfect birthday is a Foo Fighters concert. Pictured from left to right are band members: Chris Shiflett,Taylor Hawkins,Dave Grohl and Nate Mendel. Oh Yeah!!!!

I completely agree with you Shadesbreath, I hope they do the same when their birthday comes around. Fair is fair, and I just believe the birthday kid should not have to pay or lift a finger on their birthday. Although, unfortunately I have on many occasions. But I still love my friends and family just the same. Thanks for your comment.

Good suggestions, but, if your friends make you divy the check with them on your birthday, you need new friends. LOL. j/k. Well, sort of. Heh.
