Hello Kitty Halloween Costume

Do you need a last-minute cheap Halloween costume idea for a child or an adult? It's never to late to get a costume ready for Halloween! For everyone, sometimes Halloween has a way of sneaking up on us! It's autumn -- with all the fall activities - kids back to school, football season, and it's starting to get cool out, so sometimes we completely forget to prepare for Halloween. Whether it's for trick-or-treating, staying home to pass out candy, or to attend a great party, you really need a super costume - but you don't want to spend a lot of money. So here are a number of last minute cheap Halloween costume ideas for kids and adults:

Hello Kitty character - This is a great character for girls and women of all ages. You can draw whiskers on the face, buy or make some kitty ears and a tail and you're on your way. (The tail can easily be the belt from a bathrobe!) You can wear a dress, slacks, a jumpsuit - and use Hello Kitty stencils online attached with safety pins to give it character. What's the plan? You want to be a sassy and adorable cat, with a big red bow, and you can even use a Hello Kitty handbag or tote bag -- if you have one -- as a fashionable prop, or to collect all your chocolate candy and yummy treats.

Pirates of the Caribbean - This one is pretty simple too -- you don't have to be Jack Sparrow to make this work. First thing is to aim for an eyepatch, which you can easily make with string and a small piece of dark fabric. Then find a really frilly white or light colored blouse, and carry a stick or plastic sword at your waist. I also like to carry a soup ladel from the kitchen in one hand in place of a hooked hand! Finish with some largely unnecessary black mascara around the eyes to give that crazy Johnny Depp look!

Zombies - The classic Zombie look is a winner! Take any costume, outfit, or uniform you have and add face and even hand makeup, walk with a crazy limp, and you're a zombie! Zombie karate guy, zombie football player, zombie ballerina -- you get the idea. Zombie doctors or zombie nurses in lab coats or scrubs work nice. Even regular clothes (and tattered clothes are even better!) can make a zombie 'regular guy or girl' who just became recently UNDEAD! For the makeup, it could simply be big black circles around the eyes, and that Academy-award-winning zombie walk you've mastered that will make it all work!

Pop & Rock Stars - So maybe you have access to someone's crazy closet or you can go to a cheap second hand clothing store for this costume. Find your most outrageous clothes, hats, coats, a feather boa, huge grandma sunglasses, and cheap jewelry, and you can be a rock star, pop singer, hip-hop mogul, or R&B legend. If you want you can easily make an guitar prop out of cardboard or bring along some chopsticks, wooden spoons, or a couple small tree twigs, and you're the imaginary band's drummer! (If you have access to real drumsticks -- even better!) It's helpful to go WAY over the top with this one -- I find that watching some YouTube videos of crazy rockers helps with costume ideas and getting some pop star and rock star moves.

SUMMARY

As your cheap Halloween costume acting coach (free!), let me encourage you to get 150% into character before you go out to a party or trick or treating. You can convince people of your intended costume better if you completely act the part, even if you don't have access to a Hollywood wardrobe department for the evening!

And remember that whatever you choose this year can be your zombie costume next year -- Zombie Hello Kitty girl, zombie pirate, zombie rock star.... even Zombie zombie! (...that's extra scary). Happy Halloween!
