Passover Diner 2012
This is a time of year that I look forward to every year now. My mother in law can cook up a storm for two straight days and still finds the strength to serve it on special dishware and the works. I mean she really goes all out and makes everything so special.
She has a small place in a retirement home but she makes it so special. First of all you walk into her home and its like walking into a little fairy cottage. Its wonderful. there is everything in its place and just awsome to look at.
She puts three long folding tables in the middle of the room and long table cloths and everything in the place setting has to be there. We have real crystal glasses that are set just right. Place setting on each side of the dish is the correct set up and now I know how to do it.
My family never went through such lengths for any formal dinner, so this is a first for me.
It is great to get to see everyone and talk about the various things that everyone has been up too. It is really cool to watch my husband and his brother banter about this and that and especially when it comes to talking about their father!! I think its funny as hell. Its in a good way so I like to see it.
then I get to see my neices who are getting so big and they play baseball like my son and they are doing real good. I cant wait to watch them play this year.
My son was sitting next to one of my neice's and its so funny now to see how big he is compared to her. He towers over her and its so funny to watch him interact now. He has a different set of values, i guess they are changing and turning him into the man he is going to be.
I was so happy and content tonight just to be watching everyone, it was uncanny.
Mom made so much food. She made my all time favorite Matza ball soup. there was brisket, Potatoe pancakes, potato pancake with spinach and carrots , cauliflower, carrots with butter and I think brown sugar, chicken stuffed with this special stuffing with mushrooms, it was so good, she made this special chicken dish with plums, she made so much food there was no way it was all getting all ate up.
She had a table that we could all snack off of with gafilta fish, chopped liver, matza bread, all these coconut cluster things , chocolate covered candies of every kind you could think of, she had halova and my favorite a compost of fruit, warmed , it had banana, apricot, plums, raisins, grapes, strawberries. was awesome.. all I know is I already hope for next year.. I have to call her tomorrow and see if left overs are available..
Thanks Mom .. great dinner, great time...great memories
