How to Make a Popcorn Cake

To Create a Popcorn Cake like the one shown in the Photo above is pretty Simple. This recipe and photos are from: Cherry Hill Cottage. They created this Popcorn Cake for their New Year's Eve Party and had a lot of fun and laughs while putting it all together.

Here is What you will Need:

  • Popped Popcorn - About 3 Packages of Microwave Popcorn
  • 1 (16 oz) Bag of Mini Marshmallows
  • 1 Stick of Butter
  • 1 (16 oz) bag of M&M's
  • 1 (16 oz) Bag of Roasted Peanuts
  • Bundt Pan (Buttered Well)

Melt butter and marshmallows over low heat. Pour over popped popcorn, Stir in your M&Ms, and peanuts in a large bowl. Stir quickly to be sure coat all well. Press into buttered Bundt pan. Set 1 1/2 hours in refrigerator.

  • If you do not like Peanuts leave them out
  • You can add in any Fun Candies you want - Reeses Pieces, Fruit Snacks, Chocolate Chips etc...
  • You can also Drizzle Melted Chocolate on the top for a little something extra
  • Add a Caramel Topping
  • Add some color by placing a few drops of Food Coloring to your melted Marshallows

How to Dye Popcorn

You can also Dye your Popcorn any color you want. If you would like to do this instead of adding food coloring to the Marshmallows I am going to share how. Coloring your Popcorn is not only great for Popcorn Cakes, but also for special occasions like Holidays, Birthday Parties, Movie Parties etc... It adds an extra fun element to Popcorn Time and it is pretty EASY to do. There are many ways it can be done, but I am going to share an easy one with you.

What you will Need:

  • Popped Popcorn
  • Ziploc Baggies
  • Butter Flavored Cooking Spray
  • Powdered Food Coloring (I honestly did not know this existed until now)

If you are making multiple colors then place some Popcorn into each bag. Then Spray the Popcorn with your Butter Flavored Cooking Spray, Add in some of the color you want and Seal the Bag Up and SHAKE really well to coat.

Then add in all the colors you made into a bowl and you have some Fun Popcorn that is Unique and Fun!!

Very creative! I love popcorn and as a diabetic, traditional cakes are too sweet for me. Thumbs up. :)

Cool idea and much more nutritious than cakes made of bleached wheat flour.
