Prose - A Christmas Present Was a Memory
It is a Christmas present in time
And under the tree
You open a box
In order to see
If it’s the gift you wanted
Or is it a memory?
You find a cross from long ago
But how can that be?
It is today and not tomorrow
You don’t know what to believe
Suddenly the walls rise inside the box
Where is your family?
You see shepherds and their flock
It is the nativity
You walk for miles or so it seems
The cross looms in Calvary
The present and the future
Are wrapped in yesterday
The baby and the cross
Form a vision of your destiny
It all happened so fast
The present was something to foresee
Was it real or a dream?
But the box is still under the tree
You wonder if it will be earthly
Or will it be heavenly?
And then you remember your dream
And why the season is holy
