Reasons to visit Hawaii for a summer holiday

Updated on July 4, 2011

Hawaii contains magic for all

Hawaii is the newest of all fifty states in the USA and is the only which is made up entirely of beautiful Islands. The culture and scenery that surrounds Hawaii is incredible and admired by people from all over the globe. With delicacies to indulge in, a new lifestyle to experience and many areas to explore; visiting this astounding island will give you memories to hold on to for a long time to come.

Beaches line the outskirts of Hawaii, perfectly preserved in the essence of nature. White powder soft sands and turquoise waters provide spectacular photo opportunities and the chance to go on long walks or participate in the many water sports that are popular here.

Whether you choose to jet off to this tropical island and stay in a friendly hotel environment with local people spreading their kindness and joy, or whether you decide to take a cruise around the Hawaiian seas where you can soak in every angle of the landscapes, you will be equally happy with your choice.

The best time to visit Hawaii is usually from mid December to April. This makes it a great time to travel due to the weather peaking at its hottest and temperatures falling low back home (so you won't miss the sunshine back in your home city!).

If the idea of taking in breathtaking views, trekking up winding valleys and mountain peaks and discovering all that Hawaii has to offer sounds tempting to you then it is a good idea to learn the Polynesian language of Hawaii. The locals will be pleased to hear you took the time to learn some basic phrases, not to mention impressed.

Remember that the currency in the Hawaiian Islands is the US dollar ($). If this is not your regular currency then be sure to sort everything out before you leave! The warm breeze in Hawaii will leave you thirsty for fruity cocktails and cool walks, so be sure to have a comfortable amount of money to take with you and an appropriate wardrobe.

Activities available in Hawaii

A main reason for tourists continuously returning to this idealistic spot is because of the many sports and activities that Hawaii is best known for.

Many surf competitions are held here in certain beaches and resorts such as:

  • Oahu
  • Maui
  • Kauai

The waves that peel metres high are perfect for skimming on a surfboard. Many surf lessons are held here also if you are a beginner and wish to try it out. Other water sports such as jet skiing, kite surfing, windsurfing, kite boarding, and kayaking are available to enquire about here.

Hawaii is a perfect location for cyclists as there are many valleys and roads that entwine into the mountains. If you are an active person then there are many things to keep you occupied in the Hawaiian Islands. These include:

  • Scuba diving
  • Fishing
  • Tours
  • Whale watching
  • Parasailing
  • Cycling
  • Kayaking
  • Wind surfing
  • Kite boarding
  • Kite surfing
  • Snorkelling
  • Off-road tours
  • Helicopter tours
  • Horseback riding
  • Ocean rafting

  • And many more!

Alternatively if you prefer to relax on your holiday then sunbathe on the beach, by the pool or have a massage at one of the many available spas. Unwind after a long day with some drinks and tasty dishes in one of the many restaurants dotted around the coasts.

Pack your suitcase!

There are many reasons to visit Hawaii and some you will only discover when you land in the Island of dreams. Take a trip here and plan your activities before you set off as this gives you the chance to pack more into your schedule. Why not hire a car and travel further to see all that Hawaii has to offer?

Hawaii is a favourite holiday destination for countless people year after year, so let it become yours and explore this unique place with surprises around every corner. Ensure you pack everything you require and travel with the desired documents. Make Hawaii one of your most loved places in the world!
