Remember Christmas ?
Christmas ! That time of year when it seems everyone has lost their senses. Drivers with road rage, customers standing in long lines, and rudeness knows no bounds. There is always that cart that pushes you closer to the checkout lady, ramming you in the back, while that driver seems oddly unaware that said metal cage is gouging your ribs. Old people complain about the babies crying in the next aisle, young people complain about the old people in the next line. The stores open and close with automation, and the workers come and go as if they, themselves, are part of the machinery of the stores.
Somewhere along the line, I think we forgot Christmas.
I sat one evening at home, thinking, as I usually do, contemplating the next day's errands. I realized then that somehow I had almost forgotten Christmas. Oh, not the gift-giving affair, or decking of the tree, but Christmas, that feeling of magic. That wonderful feeling you had as a kid. That kind of Christmas. The crisp air, the joy of the Christmas songs, that feeling of something really special was about to happen and you just had to find someone to share it with. That kind of Christmas. The one when you actually saw Santa Clause for the first time, that kind of magic. The one that just filled your heart and you were too happy for words. That feeling of love and peace. A time when friends became family and all was right with the world.
I sat, looking around at home, and realized, that I indeed, had almost missed Christmas.
Do you remember Christmas?
