New Years Eve

New Years Eve is fairly quite and tame at my house....Usually it is close family members, snacking on a large assortment of foods and drinks.. Much laughter can be heard as we play a new game or work together on the holiday jigsaw puzzle that we had started on Christmas day.

Of course we do have a bottle of Champagne, on ice, ready and waiting. The cork removed with anticipation of the loud pop . Champagne glasses filled as we all join in the count down watching the television and waiting for the ball to drop., and with that a quick smooch with our honey...Wishing each and everyone a Happy New Year. Our glasses can be heard clinking together as we toasts each and every person, even the very young are included in the festivities, as they enjoy sipping on their real champagne glasses filled with sparkling apple cider.

Food Fun And Games

The best part of our celebration or any celebration for that matter is the food. We usually have a dinner first of the traditional tamales an assortment of(beef, chicken and cheese jalapeno). Served with beans and rice. Our dinner on New Years Eve is served early. After we have all had our fill. Its clean~up time, everyone pitches in to help. The table is cleared off, dishwasher is loaded, and started.

Out comes an array of party foods and snacks...a game is decided upon and the fun begins..We usually start off with a game of scrabble and later move on to charades or something else equally fun; all the while munching on our favorite snacks. The most popular being the platter containing the Fruit Cheese Ball served with an assortment of crackers. Of course, someone will always be seen hanging out around the punch bowl that is filled with...Pineapple~Champagne Punch.

In the mean time the kids join in the fun as well. They older kids will usually join in the games with the adults or they will help out by entertaining the younger kids. We usually have a small table set up with kid friendly snacks as well. Fruit, cookies, gold fish as well as chex mix.
