History of Father's Day
Father's Day is a celebration which started in the early twentieth century and this celebration usually involves family affair, celebrations, gift giving and dinners for fathers.
It was believed that the first father's day was celebrated on June 19, 1910 in Spokane, Washington. It was through the effort of Sonora Smart Dodd who wanted to give tribute to her dad -- William Smart being both a mother and a dad to them when their mother died because of giving birth. The idea came to her when she was hearing a mass on Mother's Day. On that day on June 19, 1010 Ms Sonora arranged a tribute for her dad. She was the first to solicit the idea of having an official Father's Day observance to honor all fathers.
Here is a nice quote for Father's Day
"A father is someone that
holds your hand at the fair
makes sure you do what your mother says
holds back your hair when you are sick
brushes that hair when it is tangled because mother is too busy
lets you eat ice cream for breakfast
but only when mother is away
he walks you down the aisle
and tells you everythings gonna be ok"
