Molasses Oatmeal Cookies


1 1/4 cups of flour

3/4 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 shortening {crisco)

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup Grandma's unsulfured molasses

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups oatmeal

1 cup raisins {the golden raisins taste the best in this recipe}

1 cup chopped nuts

Combine:flour,baking soda,baking powder,salt and spices sift together in a medium size bowl

Then add temaining ingredients and mix until well blended.

do not over mix but make sure all ingredients are well blended

Roll out dough and cut. {use whatever cutters you prefer}

In a small plate put !/2 cup sugar {this will be used to dunk cookie in}

Now that the cookies are cut dunk top side of cookie in sugar

place sugar side up on non stick cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes

Let cool and enjoy
