The 5 most unusual Halloween costumes

Updated on August 29, 2012

Halloween the witching eve!!

Fed up of witch costumes? Halloween is on its way, make it different.

Halloween is just around the corner. Now being Pagan I take this time to honour the ancestors and think of family that have past.

I light a candle for them and say a prayer in front of a specially made altar. Just a sign of respect, and I do not believe that someone has to be religious to show respect to their family gone before them.

The reason that Pagans choose to partake in this ritual is because the veil between the two planes are the thinnest at this time of year. When everything goes back to the womb of mother Earth to sleep and rest until the weather awakens them in the spring.

"Everything must die, so it can be reborn!".

So this celebration was hijacked by Christianity and turned into the eve before All Saints day. And Halloween became the time when all the wart nosed witches and evil doers( Yeah that is apparently all us Pagan's) came out to wreak havoc on the world, and bring all Hell's evil out to play. Just to get facts straight though. Hell is a Christian and not a Pagan concept. But yet again, it soon becomes transparent as to another Pagan right that has been raped by Christian religion.

Anyway, after all these little nuggets of information, lets get back to the fun. Halloween being a celebration and being modernized as everything else, us Pagans do enjoy a shin dig. So let us take a look at some unique and fun costumes instead of the Dracula, Witch and Pumpkin outfits.

The Headless costume

There is nothing scarier than seeing a supposedly decapitated body walking around. And these costumes make people wonder how you made your head look like you are carrying it. Great one for scaring on Halloween.

Include your pet pooch

Ok, so you probably thought the costumes would all be for you, right? But I never said they were all for you. This costume for your family dog is really cute. Far from ferocious, but if you are having a family celebration, at least the children won't be too upset.

The sexy side of Halloween partying

Not everyone wants to look garish and scary. So here is one for the ladies or gents that can pull this costume off.

The rest of us will probably have to be ragged out of the grave yard before we can fit in to a skimpy costume.

The bringer of death ( really?!)

Well, if we are going to be factually wrong about death, Hell, ghosts and witches, why not go out and pretend to be Death.

Do Halloween properly!!

Or last but not least. For my Pagan fellows who wish to do Halloween with the true rituals and respect that it deserves. What about this beautiful Pagan Goth gown?

Have fun

Whatever you do for Halloween. Stay safe and keep your children safe. If there is a pet hate of mine, it is that most of the year round parents who would never dream of letting their children out on the streets, suddenly let them do so in the dark, in dark clothing, to knock on the doors of strangers. Please keep children safe. You never know, a Pagan may come along and sacrifice one!! ( Yes, I joke. Children taste too chewy!! A Pagan would never eat one really!).
