The day that people across the world celebrate love is coming up. Valentine's Day is a big day for gift giving, and the economy can get a boost from the spending in which people engage to impress their significant others. What are some of the best gifts that men can buy for their wives? Of course, a vacuum could be bought, but it's probably not in a husband's best interest. An exercise video would probably be an even worse idea, as a husband is sure to get accused of calling his wife fat. Here are a few tips to help men get the perfect gift for that special day.

Jewelry

It has been said that diamonds are a girl's best friend. If this is the case that diamonds really are a girl's BFF, it can also be said that close friends are gold, rubies, and sapphires. There are some women who do not like jewelry, but most wives are sure to love any bling that you bring home for their personal collection. With the increase in gold prices, the cost of jewelry has increased correspondingly, but it is not a good idea to get the cubic zirconium just to save a buck. Make sure that you buy real gold if you are getting any gold jewelry. No one wants their wife to have her finger or neck turning green because of faux gold. This would be a true fashion faux pas.

Chocolate

If it's been said that diamonds are a girl's best friend, it's also been said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Regardless of men liking good cooking, most women love good chocolate. Chocolate is a great comfort food, and most women would love to get a good box of chocolates, because such a box of chocolates would mirror life. As Forrest Gump put it, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get." I would disagree with this. Getting a woman a box of good chocolates is likely to get a big smile .

Perfume

What woman does not like to smell good? What man does not want his woman to smell good? Smelling bad is a turnoff for everyone, so a good perfume is a practical gift that can still make a woman's day. Of course, really cheap faux perfume is not a good idea for a Valentine's gift. Really, really expensive designer perfume is not necessary, either. This is not a good idea for those who have wives who are allergic to scents, so proceed with caution.

A Nice Dress

What woman does not like to look good when going out on the town with their man? Most do, and if your wife is like most women, she will love a nice dress for that special Valentine's Day dinner. When buying your wife a dress, it is important to buy the right size. It is better to buy a smaller dress than a bigger dress. A size 18 dress for a size 10 woman is a bad move. Like the exercise video mentioned in the introduction, a larger than necessary piece of clothing will lead to questions of "do you think I'm fat?" No man wants to have this question put to him. Check your wife's current wardrobe while she is not looking to get a good idea of her size.

A Spa Certificate

One of the best things that a husband can buy for his wife, especially if they have children, is a spa certificate that can get a wonderful massage or facial. Most women like to be pampered, and mothers especially deserve to get pampered for a bit in appreciation for all that they do. Most local spas are willing to give certificates for future services, and few women will turn down such a gift.

Gifts for Redneck Wives

Most of us, if we are not rednecks ourselves, know someone who is a redneck. Our wives may even be a redneck. For those who have redneck wives, some things will be more enticing than the standard fare of chocolate or flowers. Of course, women's camouflage could be a hit for many of these women, but proceed cautiously, because not all redneck women will want camouflage for Valentine's Day.

Conclusion

There are tons of gifts that women will love for a Valentine's Day gift. Most of them will be appreciated. Some could offend, but if you want to try it, here is a vacuum cleaner. Just don't say you got the recommendation here.

For those who have had success with buying their wives a Valentine's Day present, what has been successful?
