Valentines Day
Valentine's Day Is Around The Corner
The evidence of an impending Valentine's Day is everywhere. The local stores have aisles of colorful gifts displayed on their shelves. As the Christmas items are removed, Valentine's Day has become the focus of seasonal sales. Enter a drugstore or department store, even a grocery store, and note the recent changes in the decor!
A recent stroll through a local Walmart store demonstrated how far the Valentine's Day theme extends. The lingerie department was punctuated with night gowns covered in hearts and red robes. Other personal items were proudly displayed for customers making early purchases for their special Valentine.
Love Is In The Air
Valentine's Day is about love. Couples everywhere celebrate each other and their relationship on this all important day. Cards and gifts are exchanged while restaurants offer romantic dinners to their patrons.
What about the individuals who are single or divorced or widowed? For them, Valentine's Day can be very difficult. Having no one to celebrate with can be extremely uncomfortable for them.
Can you reach out to those who are alone? Showing love can be as simple as sending a card, giving a gift or enjoying fellowship and a special meal. Let them know that they are loved and appreciated! Do you have a parent who has lost a spouse, know someone who never married, or have a single friend? They will appreciate your special attention, especially for Valentine's Day!
Each year for Valentine's day, my husband and I send cards to the widows and singles that we know. We send a card that is upbeat and shows our appreciation and love for the individual. I have been known to decorate the envelopes with stickers and throw some confetti into the envelope for fun!
Valentine's Day is an important day to celebrate. Decorate your personal work space and/or home during this special time of the year. After the festivities of Christmas and after the long month of January, this day of celebrating love is very welcome. Plan for some fun, decorate to celebrate, and do something nice for someone else. Don't let this day pass you by!
