Bridal Shower Invitations

How To and Why

Wedding showers are pre-nuptial celebrations to "shower" a bride-to-be with gifts and to show support during a most important season of life! Years ago, when I was getting married, most showers were held for women only. Today, men and women can attend a shower or an event can be planned for only women.

The wedding shower invitation list includes a targeted group of people. For instance, you can have a shower for couples or a shower inviting family members and close friends. An office can get together and host a shower for a co-worker. The possibilities are limitless!

Choose your location. I personally enjoy a shower that is held in someone's home. I have attended showers held in restaurants, the office, and in a motel meeting room.

Food can be catered by a restaurant caterer or cooked at home. Food does not have to be elaborate, but can be simple and tasty. Wedding showers for women often include finger foods and dessert.

Many couples today are registering for their wedding at a local store. Their wedding list may include selected items that they would like to have, a wish list of sorts. The listed items can range from kitchen gadgets to bed and bath linens. Dishes, glasses and silverware are often designated requests for a wedding list. The purchaser can use the list as a guide to purchase a shower gift. If an item is purchased from the list, the store will change the registry list to reflect that that item is no longer needed.

Attire for a wedding shower can vary, depending on the theme and the locale. A couple's shower may include barbeque for the meal and be held outdoors. In that instance, shorts would be practical for a warm climate in summer months. Ladies often gather together for a shower celebration and dress up for the occasion.

In addition to a festive meal, attendees may enjoy a game or two. These can often enhance the party atmosphere and serve as ice breakers for those who don't know each other. The bride usually opens her gifts during the affair to the sounds of oohs and aahs from the audience.

Our Son Is Getting Married!

I attended a bridal shower this past weekend! Our son is getting married! The bridal shower was for my future daughter in love. It was an elegant affair, ladies only. Female family and close friends were invited to celebrate the upcoming event, in a lovely home, for lunch. We took lots of pictures to share with the guys later.

A registry was provided for the guests to sign. The tables were elegantly set with beautiful fresh flowers and votive candles on the tables to add warmth!

For lunch, a chicken salad on lettuce was served with fresh vegetables and a croissant. For dessert, there were decorated, tasty cupcakes and raspberries with lemon pound cake. Tea and coffee were also provided.

After lunch, we sat in the living room to share some insight and advice with the bride! Lovingly, many of the women who had known the bride during her years of growing up shared their hearts and best wishes for her and her future husband followed by a wonderful time of opening packages.

Many thanks to the hostess, Sharon! She made a special memory in our hearts! We have the photos to remember it by.
