"Hey Santa, Women Love Toys Too," was written to give some much needed attention to some factors that are unconsciously overlooked during the holiday seasons. Christmas is a time that we are taught that it is better to give than receive. Most women being the nurturers that we are go into automatic “giving” mode. We start by spending all our free time giving to others via baking goodies; attending and giving office, family, and friend parties; decorating the entire house; preparing a special holiday meal; and shopping for gifts for everyone on the entire family’s lists.

Christmas is a time when everyone wants to receive their favorite toys. Unfortunately, in many households, the female of the home (mom, mother, momma, or girlfriend, or whatever the relation) often times does not receive her favorite toy. Many times the kids will choose household slippers because they are tired of seeing the old ones fall off her feet.

Or that special guy in her life may choose another negligee that he likes. Yeah, guys you know the ones; the garments that are “R” rated so I can’t show one hear, but use your imagination. If you’ve purchased a skimpy negligee for a loved one before then that is the type I’m speaking of. Now, don’t get me wrong, negligees are appropriate gifts for certain occasions.

But, I’m trying to help you out here; chances are if that special lady has spent hours upon hours searching for that perfect gift for you, your children, and all other family loved ones for Christmas; she has hope that someone will give her a gift she would like to have as well. Several British women got today last year and created several YouTube videos discussing what they disliked about the Christmas season. Much of it is satire of course, but portions of the videos are really how women feel about the season but are too embarrassed or ashamed to admit it.

Because women are born nurturers they will grin smile and be very appreciative of whatever gift is given. However, now that I am older and wiser, I just cringe at the thoughts of how many times over the years that we’ve given my mother gifts like pots and pans, house shoes, bed lining, towels and other impersonal things for Christmas. Now do not get me wrong if your lady says, “I want a pots and pans, bed lining, and towels,” then that is what you get for her. However, if that sweetheart says, “Surprise me, I will be happy with whatever you give me,” then gentlemen, boys, and girls that really means you need to put on your thinking caps and get that extraordinary woman in your life something special just for her and not the household. This recessional money glitch may prevent you from purchasing some of the items suggested on this hub; however, it is important to put some extra thought into that special woman of your life this year.

By now I’m sure some of you are saying, “Well what about the reason for the season?” And I agree with you that gifts should not be the main reason for this holiday. However, because many choose to exchange gifts during this season, I felt it appropriate to speak up for the women who are often forgotten and or slighted on receiving the great gifts that they give to their loved ones. She is telling you the truth, but please put some thought into your purchases; and then witness the joy upon her face and the light in her eyes when you get it right.

Experiencing a money glitch situation is not an excuse not to purchase or make a creative thoughtful gift for your loved one. Even if she is someone that is hard to make a purchase for you can always buy her favorite perfume that is almost gone, purchase a gift certificate from her favorite women’s store, or give her a spa day away from the hustle of the home.
