Wonderful Gifts For An 18 Year Old Boy!
Teenage Gifts
Have you ever been stumped at deciding what to get a teenager who appears to have everything for a gift? I was. An 18 year old who wants for nothing but has an un-nerving passion for new hobbies and experiences. Luckily he has a mother who loves to shop but also loves a bargain.
What do you get a Teenager who has everything?
I decided that at 18 my son would probably be thinking about travelling without his beloved mother and father. Although I was reassured by his "as long as you're paying I will come with you as well, otherwise little bro will get lonely".
I feel every teen should have their own luggage, selfishly meaning that my precious suitcases wouldn't get thrown in a corner or kicked about like some long forgotten carrier bag.
I wanted to get him a bag that would last, would be trendy enough for him, he would be able to recognise it easily at baggage reclaim and didn't look as if his mum had bought it. After much research I found an amazing bag that was big enough, seemed water resistant and sturdy. I ended up with a North Face Base Camp Large Duffle Bag. It's great and he loves it. He's now looking forward to traveling with his friends in the summer. Me? I'm not looking forward to the many hours of worry until he returns.
Probably the Best Travel Bag Available
These North Face Travel bags are well documented as being the most robust, practical travel bag available. My teenager has a large North Face BASE CAMP one and I can vouch for it being money well spent. It will survive jungles (and 'even' airports).
It comes with its own storage back so when you're not using the bag, it fold up quite flat and doesn't take up a lot of storage space.
Grooming Kit & Electric Shavers
Of course, you perhaps can't get your teenager to do everything you ask of them, but perhaps by giving them the gift of a grooming kit at least may give them the option of using it, or at least give you the peace of mind that they might use it.
I've tried to make it as easy as possible for my teenage boys to shave. They have to be clean shaven for school, but they both try to bend the rules as they "don't have time" to shave all the time.
Hardly "all the time", one of the boys is so blond he only has to shave every 10 days or so, but his brother is dark and has to shave more often.
Krav Maga - Really?

Dear Teen has now decided he wanted to learn Krav Maga. Why? You might have heard me scream. Well his plan after University is to join the Air Force and he feels this is a good way to keep himself fit as well as being able to get himself out of trouble.
I had flashbacks to the judo of his junior school. Lots of oooing and aahing and not a lot else. I was wrong. I have now read up to Krav Maga and I understand a little bit more the philosophy of it.
His instructors have drummed into the students that the whole purpose of Krav Maga is to disarm your attacker(s) as quickly as possible, with as little danger to yourself, to enable you to exit from the situation as quickly and safely as possible.
