April Fools Day

April Fools Day Jokes

April fools day is a great day to fool anyone you know and so what things have people done, looking quite recently on the Problogger blog Darren Rowse had everyone believe nearly about Google acquiring the popular Problogger blog to fit into their suite of webmaster tools and that to me was very believable to be true and I got suckered into it for a whole 6 minutes until I saw the date of the post, April 1st and the first thing that I thought about was oh bloddy hell, How much did he sell his Problogger blog for?

April fools day is a prank filled day that is only supposed to last for half of the day apparently, but many people carry it on all through the day with non stop wind ups of the most funny kind.

Everyone has been involved with pranks in one form or another, for example me and a few mates whilst out on the town on April fools night a few years ago stole a shop mannequin from a department store and dressed it up and fooled a couple of security guard bouncers at the doors of clubs in town that it was a real person, we were shocked that it worked as we were drunk and I found the whole thing rather vague in my memory. We got found out when one of the bouncers asked the mannequin for ID and there was no reply.

April fools jokes can be those well planned and executed pranks that take ages to plan and they can be the ones that you'd least expect or they can be those spur of the moment things that just seem like a great idea, fair enough if someone you know does april fools stuff every year it becomes kind of predictable, but I prefer to miss a year or two and come back with a vengence one year when no one will suspect it.

The best thing that I can remember about April Fools Day as a kid is someone would just come up to you and wipe a bogie on your face and then say "APRIL FOOL!" and then you would knock them out with one punch and return the favour "APRIL FOOL!" but there still is that prank atmosphere with shows like Jack Ass and Dirty Sanchez where the pranks and the jokes are on the friends and so whose turn is it going to be? and ou find it more funny if it's someone else.

I like that classic Jack Ass prank of putting a chocolate pudding in a diaper and leaving it on the top of a bin and then someone goes in pretending to be a tramp and rooting through the bin looking for something to eat and the people just look in horror as this bloke eats the chocolate pudding out of that diaper Hahahahaha!

Back in 1998 Burger King ran an ad On U.S TV that advertised a new kind of left handed burger where any ketchup would only drip out of the right hand side of the burger and people fell for it and some actually requested that they have the old right handed burgers back...classic. In fact if a major company does a prank you have to question there inventiveness because peope will fall for it, because they trust the brand or at the very least they know the company well.

What April Fools Day pranks have you tried and did they go well or did they blow up in your face?
