Space the Finial Comedy Costume

Red Dwarf is slightly more popular in the UK than it is here, for well over a decade PBS would air the slightly crude Science Fiction space comedy on Saturday nights as part of their paid for by you programming lineup. Now that the show was off the air altogether it is even harder to find the costumes, even though it was canceled over ten years in the UK costumes are readily available, but in the US where they have a slightly less large cult following and they are hard to come by. I will show you how to take regular costumes and turn them into Red Dwarf costumes with just a few simple fixes. Every so often they reissue the show and do a new season.

About the Show

I was thinking this might be easy to write because all I was doing was tracking down clips of show, to show you what the costumes should look like and find comparable costumes on Amazon and ebay, but it actually took me all day to find the right look. I should have realized that, it is a space comedy about the last human alive, a slob named Dave Lister who's only company is a Hologram of his dead bunk mate, who he hated, a self involved cat-man and a Robot who only enjoys cleaning.

The show has come out with a few more seasons, but it only airs on a digital channel named Dave that operates in Britain. We in the US can't see the programming until it comes out on DVD.

Season 9 is on DVD, but not is 10 yet.

Head to Head

There is one more being, the computer has a voice and a disembodied head that appears on all the computer monitors. Sometimes a bold man and later a blonde woman. They were called Holly, if you're a woman all you need is a blond short wig, red lipstick, a black turtle neck and a box with the middle has to be cut out and that is your Holly costume. Acting dumb is a must, she/he was alone for three million years kind of lost her/his marbles.

You can be this person easily, wear a black turtleneck sweater and use an old cardboard box with the middle cut out, paint the inside black and wear it like a computer monitor.

Remember to wear a dirty, holed filled shirt and scuffed up black sneakers, and maybe a really old leather jacket.

How To Dress Like Rimmer

These clothes are slightly drab for Rimmer, however they are in military style with h buttons which he favored, spraying this with shimmer hair might help, remember the high is for your forehead.

Krissy

Krissy the main girl character who wasn't always on the show normal wore leather catsuits, not my style so I found the one time she dressed girly.

Thanks

Thank you for reading this and if you are one of the many fans of this show, I hope that I gave you ideas on how to make your very own Red Dwarf Costume.

I got this idea from two people. My theme for my Halloween party this year is Fancy Dress Party, which is what British people call costume parties. The idea of my party is that you dress in your favorite England character living or dead, real or fictional. One of my best friends is thinking of going as Holly and the same day she told me, my sister told me to make a Red Dwarf Christmas Gifts article, which is happily about finished and thus this costume idea was born. I also had a friend who went as Arnold Rimmer to a different party. All you need is a space looking suit and an H pasted on your head.
