Ben and Jerry's Discontinued Flavors

Updated on May 13, 2013

Gone-But-Not-Forgotten Ben and Jerry's Flavor Graveyard

We all love ice cream and we all love the ice cream gold standard - Vanilla. But let's face it, ice cream is about FUN. With all their chunks, their swirls, their absolute ice cream brilliance, no one makes ice cream more fun than Ben and Jerry's. Even their "plain vanilla" use to have EIGHT different types of vanilla. The "used to have" brings me to the point of this lens:

There's always a feeling of loss whenever a Ben and Jerry's flavor is discontinued. Here's a chance for the Squidoo community to pay their last respects:

The Ben and Jerry's Flavor Graveyard.

Pay Your Respects to Ben and Jerry's Dearly De-pinted. - oh, I knew them well.

I love the names on these flavors. Unfortunately, I cannot imagine apple flavored ice cream being able to compete with all the chocolates and caramels.

Their Festivus ice cream was great. I was hoping that they would trot it out around Christmas every year, but, I saw it only one season!

I miss the Heath Bar Crunch, too. Ben and Jerry's is now available in Israel and even built a new plant here. ( I should have bought their stock years ago.) You've got a thorough list year. You must be a big Ben and Jerry's fan. Me, too.

If you every get a chance to visit Ben & Jerry's plant do so. The ice cream there isn't frozen hard for shipping, it more like soft serve. It's amazing.

Haven't heard of these. I am a Cherry Garcia fan - even the low fat version is great.

Yeah, I have to say I'm glad I never tried Black & Tan.

@anonymous: Luckily, Cherry Garcia was the first Ben and Jerry's flavor that I tried. Had I started with something like Black and Tan, I don't know that I would have given them a second chance.

There are some flavors that I miss but in the world of retail, you need to remove those that don't sell.

Gotta love the good ol' flavor graveyard. With how many flavors are out there now and how many have been retired, it certainly seems the creators at Ben and Jerry's have always been hard at work. Man, do I miss Wavy Gravy.

Maybe they could have a memorial day where they bring them back for a short period of time, they do look delicious.

So many of these Ben and Jerry's flavors from the graveyard look very good -- maybe they'll dig them up and use some of them again.

My sister says she got her husbands heart with Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia. They were next door neighbors and the second time she gave it to him, he said, "We should do something together sometime". That was in August and they were married 4 months later in December '99. Thanks to Ben and Jerry, I have a great brother in law.

Oh, now a moment of silence for the dearly departed-----------.

I love Ben and Jerrys. Went to tour the plant last year and the employees get to take home several gallons a month. What a job!

I humbly suspect that on my tombstone, where the ashes reside, it will say something about Ben & Jerry ... RIP. You see, in my lifetime, I've probably eaten enough that it would kill me? Or something else.
