Best Movies for Halloween Excitement

Updated on March 17, 2022

Halloween Provides the Perfect Setting for Horror Movies

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, with the exception of Christmas of course. Yes I enjoy going trick-or-treating, dressing up, and or the candy. With the exception off all of those exciting things, my favorite thing about Halloween has to be the horror movies. This is a perfect time to gather all of your horror movies and sit up all night watching the movies that you love. This lens will show you my favorite Halloween movies of all time. This year you can enjoy being scared or excited with horror movies!

Halloween

Of course I have to begin with my favorite Halloween movie, which is of course Halloween! I love the entire franchise and the remakes, but I have to watch the original Halloween movie on my horror movie night. This movie is a classic. Made in 1978, Halloween features the scream queen herself, Jamie Lee Curtis. If you have been hiding under a rock and has never seen Halloween, be sure that you do this Halloween! I am also thrilled that they have brought Jamie Lee back for her role in recent Halloween movies, and they have been added to my list of top movies through the years.

The Exorcist 1973

I truly believe that the Exorcist (1973) is one of the scariest movies of all time. This movie provides a true feeling of fear, which makes it perfect to watch on Halloween. I remember watching this movie for the first time when I was around 12 years old. I thought it was just because I was so young that it scared me so bad, but I was wrong. I watched it for the second time when I was about 20, and I was still hiding under the covers. It is one of my favorite movies to watch on Halloween due to the excitement and realizem it provides for the audience. Learning that it was loosely based on true events does not hurt the scare factor in the least.

The Amityville Horror 1979

The Amityville Horror is another classic that is a must for Halloween. It is also based on true events and it happened in the neighborhood of Amityville in Long Island New York. My favorite thing in the movie is the house, it has eyes. No matter if you believe the story behind the movie or not, it is a great movie to watch on Halloween.

The 2005 remake was not a bad movie to watch. Ryan Reyonlads played a great psycho, but the original movies generally cannot be outdone.

The Crazies 2010

This is one of my newer favorite Halloween Movies to enjoy. It is not the scariest movie of all time, but it is a great movie with an exciting plot. Timothy Olyphant is a great lead actor that shows his talent in this film. This movie provides great enjoyment on Halloween, and any other time of the year.

Stephen King

Stephen King is the master of Horror, and I can not just choose a couple of his movies to watch for Halloween. I try to watch as many as possible for Halloween, and any other time of the year. These are my favorite Stephen King movies for Halloween:

-IT (Pennywise is the best character in a Horror movie)

-Carrie1976 (Sissy Spacek is great as Carrie)

-Cujo (Love that is is not overly impossible)

-Children of the Corn (1984)

-Silver Bullet (A must for Halloween)

-Pet Sematary (1989)

-Needful Things

-The Shining

-Rose Red (This takes a couple of days, but I love it)

-Dreamcatcher

-The Mist

OK, I can not watch all of these on Halloween, but I make a point to pick a couple each year. Stephen King is the master of Horror, and provides some of the best movies to watch on Halloween.

Too Many Horror Movies to Choose from

I am an avid Horror movie fan. I enjoy cuddling up to watch a great movie for any time of year, but Halloween just makes it more enjoyable. Since I am such a huge fan, it is very hard for me to choose a favorite to watch any time of the year. In addition to all of the above horror movies I watch for Halloween, here is a list of more that I enjoy quite a bit;

-Jaws

-Lost Boys (my favorite of all time)

-Nightmare on elm street (all of the original ones with Robert England)

-The first 3 Friday the 13th

-The Purge

-Anabelle

-The Conjuring

This is a short list for me. I love horror movies and will watch them every day if I can.
