Gifts for Bosses

What To Give Your Boss

Gift for your Boss

Top Gifts for Bosses

A special occasion is coming and you need to get a gift for your Boss. What gift would be best? Total doofus or not, your Boss is your employer and a good relationship is no bad thing.

Besides, the notion that employees are people with a broader base in life than just employment is important where you might be seen as a cog. At these special occasions, you have every reason to remind your Boss that you are not just another number, but someone thinking of the company.

But what will you give that has some meaning, that is not seen as a sort of "notice me" bribe? Indeed, it's very challenging to think of a gift, especially if you don't really know your Boss that well. The key thing to remember is that this is primarily a professional relationship no matter how much fun your Boss is. Here are some ideas of what you might give your Boss.

Best Gifts for your Bosses

What gift do you usually give your boss?

See results

Have you given gifts to your bosses before? - What do you usually do?

Yes, before I share my ideas, I want to know what you usually do. There are always special occasions during the year when we give gifts to those around us. What do you usually give your boss at these times?

If your boss travels, grump proof him

Grump proof your Boss. Imagine your Boss trying to relax in the plane. There's no one to harass and no paper to push. Think of how perfect this gift would be. Your Boss can catch up on that much needed rest listening to favourite music collection.

Even when your Boss is not traveling, a headphone will still be a perfect gift, a great thing to have in the office. Think of how much stress is released by this gift. As its price can be quite a bank breaker for one person, this is when you'll need to pool your resources as a group.

This gift will make your boss shut out the world and just listen to that favourite music, enjoy and relax. Then, he or she will not be nit picking on any of you.

The Best Bluetooth Headphone

SENSO Bluetooth Headphones, Best Wireless Sports Earphones w/Mic IPX7 Waterproof HD Stereo Sweatproof Earbuds for Gym Running Workout 8 Hour Battery Noise Cancelling Headsets

This bluetooth headphone is so popular that over twenty thousand people gave it favourable reviews. It seals well in your ears so it cancels off most of the noise. It's also water proof.

When your Boss is one who likes to go around the office, get him or her this wireless headphone. This way, your boss will no longer miss any calls. Hands are free to still do other things while taking calls. This is indeed a top gift choice for your Boss.

Does You Boss Love Music?

If your boss loves music, you can give him the speaker and with the bluetooth, he can enjoy his music collection in the office without disturbing anyone. Music relaxes and so this is a gift from which you all can profit.

Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Bluetooth speaker for your boss

The sound of these portable mini-speakers is fantastic and it is so compact, your boss can bring this when she/he travels. Your boss will surely love this.

This will look really well in your boss office and he/she can enjoy his/her favourite music. This will always put him/her in a good mood and as a bonus, you can also enjoy the music. He can also bring this when he/she travels to add some music to that otherwise stale hotel room.

Engage your Boss - A Camera will do this

Source

Engage your Boss in his travel with a camera

Often, your bosses' business trips allow for visits to some tourist attractions in the area. If your Boss does not yet have a camera, this would be a gift to think about. You can also enjoy the pictures and maybe, some tips on some of these travel destinations.

Or, your boss can take pictures of those people you often talk over phone with, the environment your contacts work in. These are information that may also be useful to you. But, you don't really have to be a utilitarian all the time. Let your boss enjoy making his or her own memories and encourage the sharing.

A Group Gift for the Boss?

Often, a group gift is much more convenient for everyone and cheaper, too.Everybody will decide on what gift to give and how much money each employee should contribute. I remember once we retreated to a local wine bar to consider our options and we wrestled with alternatives for some hours until the bar closed. No gift actually was ever purchased. Hmmmm. Not a good idea.

When deciding on the kind of gift, you should think of something that "the big guy" will enjoy or can use frequently in the office or at home. You should choose a reliable person to do the gift buying for the group.

You can wrap up a beautiful silver or wooden picture frame that would complement your boss' office. You can also consider a digital picture frame that can hold over a thousand pictures.

Give your Boss a Battery Powered Wireless Router

If your boss has a second home, this wireless router is great. We got one for the cottage last summer and everyone in the family can easily connect at the same time.

We find ourselves gathered around the living room, each one sharing what they've found in their search. If your boss has a summer home, he or she will appreciate having this.

What gift will your boss like? - Watch him

Battery Powered Wireless Travel Router

For connectivity, this has no comparison. At this price, it is a bargain and a great gift for your boss who often has to travel to various branches or attend meetings and conferences. If he/she has a vacation place, this would also work well. He can load his favourite movies and presto, he is well set to have an enjoyable vacation.

This is also convenient when your boss travels with a team. The team can all connect and happily work to meet whatever is required. They can share insights on the last meeting or plan their strategy for the next one. We have this in our hotel room in Hanoi and it gives each one the freedom to connect anytime anywhere in the suite. You can also use this in your car or in hotel rooms to avoid internet charges charged by some hotels.

Does your boss collect something? - Find out and add a unique gift item to the collection

My husband was in a team with a serious ceramics collector but you know what? They may own pieces worth thousands of dollars but they do appreciate design and unique items that will not empty your account.

Find out what your boss collects and start searching for that unique item that can be added to it. such gift will always be appreciated.

What about giving your boss a nice pen? - Your boss usually have to sign something

In a number of cultures, having an expensive pen in your shirt pocket and using this pen in meetings show you are somebody. Once, the fashion in the country we worked in was to buy just the top cover of luxury brand pens and put this casually on your shirt pocket. So, get a group to go with you and get your Boss a pen he or she will be proud to use in meetings.

Unique Gift Ideas for your Bosses

Make home made gifts

On the other hand, if you prefer giving your own gift to your boss, here are some ideas on what you can cobble together.

You can give your boss a homemade gift. If you are good at cooking, you can bake some major cookies, brownies, cup cakes (go wild with these) or serious muffins. Use some imagination.

Give from your Heart

Not because of Obligation

There are indeed plenty of gift options for your boss. However, it is important to remind yourself that you should always give from your heart. Your boss will thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness.

Some fun in your boss gift

Bosses often are stressed more than any of us so share them some fun. Or, a stress reliever. Have a nice gift but put in this one as an added bonus. Hey, you might even get a bonus.

I was never in a position to have to come up with a gift for a boss back when I was a R.N. Your gift ideas were good and I also enjoyed reading the comments as to gift ideas. Depending upon how many employees Camden1 had when she was a boss, Christmas tree decorating would not have been a problem! That was a clever idea to give a Christmas ornament. Her tree would have been fun to observe with that eclectic collection of ornaments from her employees.

Enjoyed your description of bosses. They're so spot on and they could be a lot worse.

Bosses come and bosses go. As I've seen they come in three types:

      1. Young, keen, full of themselves, eager to please THEIR bosses (however high they've come, however fast, there's ALWAYS somebody higher up the ladder - the lower your boss is in the pecking order, the higher he'll want you to jump, watch out for this one);

      2. A bit older, overlooked in the promotion stakes, a bit embittered, a bit easier to get on with, but watch out for a 'barbed tail' (if he thinks he's in the offing for late promotion he'll pass the buck easily enough - even if it' likely to backfire on him/her, most of my bosses have been men; in one office headed by a woman the other male staff fawned on her as if she was Cleopatra);

      3. Older bosses who have a few years to go before retiring - especially ex-military - who have a bark worse than their bite, although when you get to know them better they're all right really, had a few of them, one even apologised for his 'verbal lashings' (he was ex-Para, injured out of active service at Suez in 1956, took great interest in the Falklands action and Max Hastings' reportage) - we ended up 'pals' and I chipped in to his leaving collection at the 'Cheshire Cheese' off Fleet Street (where Dr Johnson drank); his No 2 was an ex-Royal Marine who was a bit easier to get on with when The Telegraph moved to the Isle of Dogs. I left before him there (got the push during Conrad Black's time).

I had a smattering of decent, half-decent and downright pushy bosses at Royal Mail a few years on before I took early retirement in 2008. Not the best experience of bosses, but it could've been a LOT worse!.

When I was a boss (many years ago!), each of my employees gave me a Christmas ornament. I was touched to see what ornament each of them had picked out...and I was happy that no one spent a lot of money on me!

A group of us got our boss a new computer chair as a combo gift, and although we got a staff Christmas party that year, he said for the remaining years that I worked there that his staff "didn't deserve one", no matter how hard we worked, so needless to say, he didn't get any more gifts (and we threw our own Christmas staff parties that were a ton more fun ;).
