Christmas Holiday Mugs

Updated on June 26, 2014

Mugs make Great Holiday Gifts

I find that Christmas mugs fit many of your small gift needs for the holidays.

They can be filled with small gifts such as candy, small trinkets, or a special drink mix or they can be added to a basket of Christmas treats.

I have used mugs to present gifts to the staff at my Mother's nursing home.  One year I filled them with a hot chocolate mix and the next I made cake in a mug.

In this lens I have picked a selection of Christmas mugs that I thought would make good gifts.  I have also included my instructions for cake in a mug.

May you have a Merry Christmas!

Mugs for Gifts

many different presentations

When you think of giving someone a Christmas mug, look for an interesting way to present the gift. The mug is perfect for holding a variety of items that is limited only by your imagination.

Some of the more common uses for mugs are using them to hold candies, chocolates or perhaps a hot chocolate mix.

Mugs make a great container for almost any small gift. For women you might add small sized hand lotions, sewing notions, or perhaps a special Christmas pin. For men look at small tools, golf tees, or even a festive pair of socks. For children small figurines, marbles, a small stuffed animal or stickers work great to put in a festive Christmas mug.

Food and drink items are always welcome and many work well to put in a mug. Some that come to mind are trail mixes, nuts, cheeses, small cookies, and crackers.

For a unique mug gift you might want to try a 'cake in a mug'. I have the recipe listed below.

Special Holiday Mugs - great gift containers

A mug is a nice gift by itself, but add something inside and it can become a special gift. Here are some mugs that would also make great gift containers. Just add you items inside, wrap in some clear wrap and tie and a bow!!

Cake in a Mug

a favorite Christmas treat

Are you looking for a unique small Christmas gift ? This gift would be great for a teacher, mailman, nurse, or someone who you would like to remember with a small gift.

First you buy a Christmas mug, then gather the ingredients for cake in a mug and add them to the mug. Wrap the entire mug in cellaphane and tie with a Christmas bow and a tag with instructions for the cake.

Cake Mix:

1 box cake mix, flavor of your choice

1 small instant pudding mix (not sugar free), flavor of your choice

Glaze Mix:

1/3 cup confectioner's sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons dry flavoring such as:

lemonade mix

orange breakfast drink mix

cocoa or vanilla Powder

instant flavored coffee or cappuccino

Combine cake mix ingredients and blend well. Measure 1/2 cup of mix into a sandwich bag. Label this bag "Cake Mix."

Place the glaze mix ingredients into a sandwich bag. Label this bag "glaze mix" and attach it to the other bag with a twist tie.

Place one bag cake mix and one bag glaze mix in each coffee cup and attach the baking instructions.

Attach the following note to the gift:

Spray inside of coffee mug with cooking spray. Empty cake mix into cup. Add 1 egg white, 1 tablespoon oil and 1 tablespoon water. Mix well. Microwave on full power 2 minutes.

Empty Glaze Mix into a small bowl and add 1 teaspoon water. Mix well. Pour glaze over baked cake.
