Dog Gift Guide by Rio and Friends
Gifts for the Pup on Your List
My tribe of rescued pets and their friends are very talented animals. Most have ventured into the world of online publishing. Rio, the oldest of the group is the peace keeper and keeps both the felines and the canines in line. He is a very helpful and energetic dog. Even though he is up in years, he continues to live life with gusto. On this page he shares some of his wisdom.
I am Rio, the part Catahoula. With some input from young canines, Amos and little 2nd Chance, I have picked out some of the things that we dogs would like to receive as gifts during this holiday season. The hardest part in formulating the list was getting the humans to understand what we were trying to communicate. We finally resorted to paw language and pointing to pictures around the house and in the paper that they have to put down for 2nd Chance the Cocker Spaniel. I'd really rather not say anymore about that bad habit of his.
The poll we took among other pups determined that our favorite gifts include chew toys and balls, collars and leashes (well the humans like these), soft comfortable beds and tasty treats. The lady made me put some dog clothes on the list.
We apologize for not being able to show the things we picked out. Mom said that we could only put one that humans could click on, so we just told you about the ones that we really liked. We hope that the two-leggeds will still be able to find the perfect holiday present for their noble and deserving canine friends.

Rio's Suggestions
Hello world, Rio here. Since that young whipersnapper Amos was so bold as to publish his own lens about his travels, I decided to help the wonderful humans, who love our kind, with their holiday shopping. So with a little help from young Amos and 2nd Chance, I have gathered some outstanding examples of proper gifts for our kind. We want this to be the best holiday season for all of our four-legged compadres.
Rio Reindeer
Toys, Oh Boy!
I love fuzzy squeaky toys that I can catch in my mouth when my big human buddy throws them in the air. I'm a great catcher. Also love balls that are soft enough to pick up and run back for a touch down. My little friend 2nd Chance the cocker spaniel does not know how to catch balls. He does enjoy treats, though.
Loofa Plush Toys
2nd Chance the cocker spaniel likes these long skinny plush toys because he can grab them with his little mouth. They are also big enough for him to see them since his doesn't see as well as he used to. He likes to chew on his toys until the stuffing comes out and they are wet, yuck.
Treats
Treats are great. I love treats. Gimme more treats. Milk Bones and other crunchy ones taste good and Mom says they help to clean our teeth. Greenies are good, too.
Beds
I really prefer sleeping on the couch with my humans, or better yet in their bed, but my little "brother", 2nd Chance the Cocker Spaniel, likes to curl up in a dog bed on the floor. There are some really nice ones that I might even enjoy. As I get older it's getting harder to get up on the couch (but don't tell young Amos I said that).
Chance Relax
Collars and Leashes
Amos and I enjoy a handsome collar on which to display our identification tags. These tags have come in handy several times when we wandered too far from home and some kind human called our humans so they could come get us in the car. We love riding in the car.
Actually, for awhile Amos had it all worked out. He would run through the woods to our house and take the morning walk to the river. He'd usually hang around, sleeping in the shade until his man got home and found he wasn't there and would come get him.
Reflective Collar
Amos has a wide red-orange one with shiny things on it. He sneaks away during the day and night and goes all over the country side. His man got a reflective collar for him so that people can see Amos in the dark.
Amos the Catahoula
Retractable Leash Large
My Lady uses a retractable leash with 2nd Chance so he won't run back to the house when we walk in the woods. He's a little lazy and doesn't like to get his feet wet.
Cool Shirts
Clothes and Costumes
The female human made us include this category because she thought some of these were "cute". We would not denegrate ourselves to don some of the frilly things, but some of the lady dogs may enjoy dressing up in this apparel. We like most of the ruff ones, though, and the sweaters to keep us warm when that cold white stuff is on the ground.
Dog Shirt Designs by Naturegirl7. Most are also available in human sizes, as well.
Christmas
We like to join the humans in their celebrations so we included this category. They like to put little things on a tree & they say our name is on it. They also hang socks that we can't chew on and they put fun things for us in the socks. We like the stuff in the socks.
Santa and His Modular Home
The human members of my pack find these Benny Grunch and the Bunch people rather funny. They are dressed up in reindeer outfits like me.
My Buds
Little 2nd Chance and young Amos helped me write this page. Perhaps you'd like to learn more about these pups.
