Great Egyptian Costumes for kids
When I think about Egyptian costumes, I think first of Queen Cleopatra and King Tut. Second I think of Egyptian peasants and belly dancers. Finally I think of Princess Jasmine from Disney's Aladdin or the pyramid builders from Moses.
Accessories for these types of costumes include gold jewelry, head dresses, and any asp related staffs or jewelry.
Mummy costumes are also a good costume, as a lot of the Egyptian kings and queens were wrapped and mummified in a sarcophagusafter they died.
Egyptian Style Costume Ideas
- Cleopatra Costume - For girls who have grown out of the princess stage, a Cleopatra costume gives them a different look while still dressing up with gold jewelry, a large headdress, capes, and an elegant outfit.
- Egyptian Kings like King Tut - The Egyptian kings typically had a large headdress, sandals, and a short kilt typically made of white linen. In black they would have baked in the hot sun.
- Mummy - I love the mummy costumes. A mummy costume can be handmade with a bunch of toilet paper (careful if its raining). I recommend a pre-made costume as homemade ones are difficult to pull off and keep on throughout your celebration.
- Alladin and Princess Jasmine - Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney movies. There are a lot of kids costumes that can be based on the Disney movie Aladdin. Don't forget about the genie from the lamp, Jafar, or for those looking for extra points, dress as the magic carpet.
- Belly Dancers
- Egyptian Peasant - See the pyramid walls for ideas.
There many Egyptian costume accessories that would be great with a kids costume, include costume jewelry, asp staffs, and many types of head dresses.
