This is my first Yule. I am a solitairy practioner and need direction on how to honor the season. I

I have my Yule log and red, green, white candles.  Do I light them at all? If so, do I let them burn throughout the solstice (12 days following the Solstice)?

I would think Christmas is a time of appreciating each other and the act of giving whether through volunteering, donations and giving gifts is symbolic of these emotions and celebration of the year. I can not say on the religious aspect as my cultural spirituality is separate and different from church practices but the central point is the same, believing in a power greater than ourselves. I would suggest that you go with what you feel is right within your own heart. Have a merry Christmas and safe holidays!

In 2009, Yule is observed overnight, starting at sundown on Dec 20th into the morning of the 21st.  How or when you burned the candles would depend on what spiritual tradition you honor.
