When buying a dinnerware for Christmas, how many pieces you will expect in that in general? 12 or 16
Many dinnerware sets come in place settings of 4. I image it all depends on how many people you will be having for Christmas dinner. I am not sure how to interpret your question though.
Normally for a place setting of 4 gives you -- dinner plate, salad plate, bowl and a cup/mug, that gives you a total of 16 pieces. When you buy dinnerware good for 6 people, you get 24 pieces. Then when serving for 8 people, with the very basic table place setting, you get 32 pieces. However, many dinnerware brands offer at this point extra pieces like instead of cup/mug it is cup and saucer or an added dish -- the appetizer plate. Other extras in the set are serving platter, vegetable or serving bowl, sugar bowl and an 8 oz. creamer. This brings the set to 45 pieces. When serving for 12 people, the very basic dinnerware is 48 pieces and could go as high as 60 pieces for the other extras that comes with the set.
With expensive brands, the normal place settings you can get are good for 4 and 6. The price range even on sale are already in the hundred. I suggest go to Amazon & Ebay and search from their good reliable online sellers.
