Four Gifts for Your Cats to Enjoy

Updated on May 7, 2016

First be it known that not all pets respond the same way to every toy.

With that said let me tell you how our cats enjoy the four toys that I will be sharing on this page.

These toys are:

Laser Pointer
The Crazy Circle
Dingle Balls
Scratching device

At this point let me tell you about the laser pointer (my favorite) and the fun we have had with it. The other three will come a bit later.

It was interesting watching the cats in the house chasing the beam from a flash light. This did not keep their attentions that long though. Then one day I got a combination USB drive and laser pointer from work. When I was showing it to the wife I noticed that I had the cats attention. Not just one but both cats. So I started seeing if the cats would follow it. They did. I was able to get them to run across the room and in circles as they chased the little red dot on the floor.

Having two cats follow one beam was fun. Having two cats follow two beams was even more so. Imagine if you will the two beams crossing. (Yes that was a Ghost Busters reference) And yes the cats did not seam interested in anything but the little dot of light. One jumped over the other at the last moment. Still not sure how they pulled that one off. I was more careful after that.

Another fun thing involves the stairs. One of our cats would not climb the stairs. The only way she would go up is if you carried her up. The other one however... I would get him chasing the little red dot then move it up the stairs onto the wall. He would rush up the stairs and jump up to get that little red laser dot. Not just once but twice and even three times in a row.

So you see how something so small and compact can actually be a useful toy for you and your cats to have available in your home. (OK so dogs too will chase the little red laser beam. But we don't have one so cats get top billing.) And just in case you have a bit of public speaking to do I am sure that your pets will be happy to loan you laser pointer for a brief time. With the understanding that you will play with them when you get home after the presentation.

Petmate Crazy Circle Interactive Cat Toy, Large

This one has been enjoyed by our cats and my parents cats for many years. Like most cat toys its ignored on a regular basis. But when the cats take an interest in this toy they are at it for hours. Knocking the ball around in different directions. Then when they're done they're done. Just take it away until another unknown time when they will want it again. Just listen for the sound of that ball rolling around the circle as they bat it back and forth.

Ethical Slotted Balls Cat Toy, 4-Pack

Yes its the dingle balls. They roll across the floor and disappear. A few days / months / years later they mysteriously reappear and roll across the floor again. the bells make their sounds as the go over and over. Where did they come from? Where did they vanish to? The cats know but they will never tell. I know I have asked them. But every time the come out of hiding our cats spend hours batting them around the room. Then they vanish once again from existence. To reappear once again in a time and place unbeknownst to me or any other human in the house.

Our shopping list

We have the above three. This one is actually part of the cat's wish list.

TRIXIE Pet Products Scratching Wave Brown 11.25 x 19.5 x 7 in.
TRIXIE Pet Products Scratching Wave Brown 11.25 x 19.5 x 7 in.
There are different types of scratching posts in the world. But having one that reminds the cats of the carpeted stairs is helpful in our house. The cats are currently using the stairs. This just might move this up the list to their next toy. Its also why I have this as an Amazon module not just a picture. A way to help remind me.

So which toy do you think your pet would like in their stocking

Bonus Toys with NO "Extra" charge to you!

That's right no extra charge. The two toys being shown here are also played with by our cats. The rings are from a gallon of milk. When you take the cap off there is a plastic ring still there. One day when taking this ring off I missed the container to throw it away and on of the cats just pounced on it. She then walked into the living room and proceeded to play for about a half hour. This has continued for almost a year now. The second is a straw. Yes the thing you consume your drinks from when getting the fast food or visiting the local coffee shop. So two cats and two different toys that you were going to just throw away.
