More Decorating Ideas
When looking for ways to decorate your gingerbread house, take a walk down the aisles at the grocery store. Look out for colorful candies to use as roofing tiles, stepping stones, flower beds, window shutters, and more. You can use marshmallows to make snowmen, pretzels to make fences or window frames, desiccated coconut for snow, wafer icecream cones to make Christmas trees (with piped green foliage) or a steeple / chimney on the building, cereal or cookies for the rooftop.

Made With Graham Crackers
If you don't want the bother of making the gingerbread walls and roof of the house, you could always make it using graham crackers and royal icing. This is simple enough for older children to make or to be made in bulk for younger children to decorate. But you can also get very artistic and make an elaborate graham cracker gingerbread house.
