Pumpkin Pasties

These are a pumpkin-filled dessert inside a pastry crust. Pumpkin pasties are popular treats in the Harry Potter series; they are available on the Hogwarts Express and are even served at Hogwarts with dessert. Add these to your Halloween party menu, and anyone who likes pumpkin pie will love these!

Cauldron Cakes

Cauldron cakes (also known as Black Forest Cookies to Muggles) are mentioned frequently in the Harry Potter series, as well. According to the recipe I have found, cauldron cakes are simply cookies. Very thick, chocolatey cookies! Perfect for your Harry Potter Halloween party menu.

Treacle Fudge

Mmm...who doesn't like fudge? Here's how to make treacle fudge: In a large bowl, mix a half cup of cream or evaporated milk, ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar, and ¼ teaspoon salt together. In a saucepan, melt four ounces unsweetened chocolate and two tablespoons unsalted butter together. Remove from the heat and add a third cup molasses. Add the two mixtures together and mix; pour the mixture into a pan and let cool. Once cooled, cut into squares. Serve to the guests at your Harry Potter Halloween party.

Butterbeer

Butterbeer is a frothy drink reminiscent of butterscotch and may be served at your Harry Potter Halloween party hot or cold, alcoholic or not. If you lived in the wizarding world, you might find butterbeer at the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks.

Pumpkin Juice

This is a common drink at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To make pumpkin juice for your Harry Potter Halloween party, you will need to juice two cups of pumpkin by squeezing it through a cheesecloth or juicer. Then pour the pumpkin juice, along with two cups of apple juice and a half cup of pineapple juice, into a blender and add a teaspoon of honey (optional). Blend thoroughly and chill or serve over ice.

More Harry Potter Halloween Party Menu Ideas

  • Acid Pops - Roll sour lollipops in pop rocks, using honey to make them stick.
  • Licorice Wands - Dip half of a licorice twist in melted almond bark then cover with candy sprinkles.
  • Ton Tongue Toffees - Place 2 cups sugar, 8 Tbsp butter, 1/2 tsp rum or vanilla flavoring, and 1-1/4 cups water in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved. Stop stirring and allow the mixture to boil until it reaches 290 °F. Pour into a buttered 9x12 inch pan. Allow to cool until it is firm to the touch, then use a sharp knife to mark two inch squares. Once cooled, break the toffee into squares.

Once all the food has been prepared, don't forget to label everything! Of course, real witches and wizards will already know what the menu items are, but the guests at your party may not. Finally, have a fun and safe Halloween!
