Make Super Scary Halloween Cupcakes with A Zombie Ate My Cupcake!
Any holiday is a good excuse for me to bake cupcakes, but I do relish Halloween as you can be so creative! And the book "A Zombie Ate My Cupcake" by Lily Vanilli is always my must-turn-to book for inspiration.
I love the fact that there are complicated designs alongside ones that you can make last minute with ease. Some that need lots of preparation and some that don't. Some that beginners can make, and some that only the more experienced can make. Something for the adults, something for the kids, and ultimately, in all ways, something for everyone!
Each page spread contains a fantastic creation and how to recreate it yourself. The cupcake recipes themselves are tucked away at the back, so that each main recipe can focus on the decoration. Last year, I made mummy cupcakes for my neighbour's Halloween party. I rustled them up last minute with what I had in the cupboard, and these looked the easiest to make. And they were! I wanted to make Day of the Dead sugar skulls but didn't have time, so I made some faces based on the designs instead.
This year, I am more prepared, and am aiming to make the sugar skulls AND the ghastly ghosts, and maybe even the zombie fingers.
I just love leafing through this book, the designs look so realistic, from the brains to the rotten ragworms. There are classy cupcakes as well, such as the black rose topped cakes (gorgeous!) and fun ones too, like the rainbow ones or bejeweled ones. My personal favourites are the shattered glass cupcakes, which just look SO effective, and the undead gingerbread cakes, which have little gingerbread tombstones and white roses atop chocolate yumminess.
Great for everyones, from solo bakers to parents with kids, I guarantee that this book will bring ghoulish fun to your Halloween party or celebration, as well as tasty treats!
