Mother's Day Ring Keepsake
Mom or Mum, Either Way She is Special
Mother's Love Rings
My mother loved her rings. She cherished a mother's ring. It had the birthstones of her won and her children's. Though my sister died when I was a little girl, her birthstone was off to one side of the ring. My mother's birthstone was in the center. A shiny garnet stone placed nicely in the center. It was a larger gem compared to the side gems. She said that it was the larger not because she was the center of our universe, but because I shared the same birthstone as she did. This is why the stone was larger, to make room for the two of us. On the other side of my mother's ring was my brother's birthstone. Tiny diamonds outlined the birthstones. It was a beautiful ring she wore most everyday.
Mother's rings are still very popular. There is something special about wearing a ring with the birthstones of your children on the ring.
Birthstone Chart
Types of Birthstones
Are you familiar with your birthstone?
Birthstones vary between the ages of time and cultures. These are the birthstones for the USA modern day by cultures.
January: garnet
February: amethyst
March: aquamarine, bloodstone
April: diamond
May: emerald
June: pearl, moonstone, alexandrite
July: ruby
August: peridot
September: sapphire
October: opal, tourmaline
November: topaz, citrine
December: turquoise, zircon, tanzanite
Garnet is a nice rich red stone. However, it is not my favorite, so when I would get a necklace or ring as a gift that went with birthday it was nice, but I would have rather had an amethyst, opal or a ruby.
Is your birthstone your favor type of stone or do you like one of the stones for the other months?
