Bring Out Your Kids Inner Turtle or Ninja

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles debuted via a comic book in 1984 and enjoyed worldwide fame during the late 80s and early 90s. While the TMNTs never really went away, the loveable, anthropomorphic, teen-age turtles are coming back in a big way thanks to a new movie marking their 30th anniversary. The new movie debuts August 8th, 2014 and boasts huge celebrities including Megan Fox, Will Arnett, Johnny Knoxville, Whoopi Goldberg, and more. With this huge amount of star status in one film and the overwhelming charm of Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, and Raphael, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costumes for Halloween or dress-up are sure to be popular this year.

Choose from Four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Costumes for Halloween

When searching for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume, it is important to remember that there are four teenage turtles. The Halloween costumes are almost identical except for differently colored masks. In this lens, I have chosen to feature Leonardo (my personal favorite), however, there are three other turtles to choose from. If you are looking for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume that matches your little one's personality, you can find the information you need below.

Leonardo is the Fearless Leader

Like I said above, Leonardo, Leo for short, is my favorite teenage mutant ninja turtle. Like me, Leonardo is the oldest of four siblings and a devoted student. It is easy to tell Leo apart from his siblings because of his blue mask. Leo's weapon of choice is katanas, and he spends most of his days and nights wrangling his three younger brothers.

Michelangelo Delivers Southern California Charm and Comedy Relief

Michelangelo, Mikey for short, is the youngest brother of the bunch. Mikey wears an orange mask and uses nunchakus as a weapon. Due to his southern California accent, obsession with eating pizza, and talented comedic episodes, Michelangelo is the most popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Donatello is the Genius of the Group

Donatello, Donnie to his brothers, is a genius. He wears a purple mask and uses a bo staff, but is the least violent of the four brothers. Instead, Donatello prefers to solve conflicts through problem solving.

Raphael is the Most Complicated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

I saved Raphael for last. I chose to do this on purpose because Raphael is the most complicated teenage turtle. As you would expect in any group of teenage boys, there is at least one bad boy, and Raphael is the bad boy teenage mutant ninja turtle. Raphael wears a dark red mask and uses a pair of sais as his weapon. He is strong, aggressive, and incredibly loyal to his brothers. Although, his temper often leads to conflict among the brothers, especially between he and Michelangelo.

Use the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Personality Descriptions Above to Help you Choose the Right Costume

Hopefully, using my description of each ninja turtle above will help you choose the right Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle costume for Halloween or dress-up for the little TMNT fan in your house.

Don't Forget the Accessories

When you're dressing your TMNT fan, you should make sure you have all the right accessories. Many costumes come with accessories, but if they don't you'll want to make sure you grab those too.
