Preferences of Your Mom

First of all you need to take a pen and paper and jot down all the interests of your mom. Maybe she loves cooking or gardening or perhaps she is into music or reading. Whatever the ideal preference is, the key is to give something she will really love and cherish.

If you are clueless on her interests you could always snoop around and pay a bit of attention to her. Take note on what she watches on TV or what she does during her free time. Every mom is different and can have different preferences, she might already have something on her mind and you’ll probably need to find out. Ask around her closest friends or even your dad if she had been talking about a latest CD or a certain book she likes.

According to the market survey done by RetailMeNot.com: 27% of mothers want gift cards, 13% would prefer a spa day but only 8% would like flowers. However according to Cozi.com 35% would like a handmade item or card and 11% would like flowers.

And now that you got your list done it’s time to move to the gifts.

Your mom is no exception. However ordering flowers need to be done on time and the florist has to be reputable. Also remember the tiny bit on your mom’s preferences, there could be a favorite flower she would like.

Being punctual: You have to be prompt when ordering flowers and make sure you follow the schedule. If your mom is working it would give her a delight surprise If you can send the bouquet to the office. If you are overseas you’ll probably need to know the pay rates and distance.

Another item: Sometimes it’s lonely to send a bouquet of flowers by itself you could try a beautiful vase or a box of chocolates it could be more appealing and demonstrative.

Message: The message inside the card needs to be written by your hand, if you are overseas you can’t help it, but if you constantly visit your mom it’s important to personally write it. Moms are very sensitive and they appreciate all the little details.

Deliver it yourself: Sure, you can send it by the florists directly to your precious mom but she would appreciate it more if you deliver the chosen bouquet yourself.

Jewelry

Your mom might have brought you everything you wanted when you were a kid and it’s time to show back that you can get whatever you want for her. You don’t need to get her rubies and diamonds, but a simple elegant necklace with a message engraved on it can do wonders. According to statistics about 5% of the moms preferred jewels and other accessories.

Engravings: It’s better to find a piece of jewelry with an engraved message on it. Since pre-cut jewelry without engraved messages is very common, adding your mom’s name with a personalized message is more creative and memorable.

Be creative: You could try a necklace with her favorite birthstone in it or you could buy it on her favorite color. Pay attention to the shapes and engravings. Don’t make it way too simple and way too flashy.

Pricing: Gold and silver are expensive, but it’s popular. A silver necklace with a pendant of her favorite birthstone might be over a hundred dollars, but it’s valuable and more durable. You could try earrings and rings that could be of low pricing, check thoroughly about the manufacturer’s reputation and guarantees they give before buying.

Helping Her Out

Well, this is the thing that would please my mom. There are tons of chores around the house and your mom probably do them all by yourself, let’s change that for a bit on mother’s day and show your appreciation by making the bed for her and bringing her bed breakfast and cleaning the house. You don’t have to do this alone and if you have siblings you can ask them to join you. Even If you make a mess by probably trying to help her, your mom would probably give you a penalty since its mother’s day. Start by cleaning your room and then other rooms. Remember to arrange the pillows and the vases properly, wash off all the dishes and water the thirsty plants. Also don’t forget to do the laundry.

Spend Time with Her

You might be a busy office worker, but it never hurts to take the day off for your mom’s special day. Personally this is the most valuable thing you can do for her. At first you’ll be clueless on what to do, but it’s actually very simple. You could cook a meal with her, look at photo albums or just relax with her on the lawn talking about the wonderful memories about her younger days.

Go on an Outing

Remember the time you went to the beach with your mom and your siblings? If you can react that memory, it would make your mom a lot happy. Make sure it’s a place that your mom really loves. It could be the movies, the beach, a favorite park or even a picnic outside. It all depends on how you will enjoy the place with your mom. If by any reasons you don’t like any of the places then you can stick to another idea. There’s no point in making your mom happy if you can’t enjoy it with her.

Essential Tips to Keep in Mind

No Quarreling!

We all have fights with our parents on many occasions but don’t spoil the special day with arguments. If your mom is more prone to argue at almost anything, chill out and be patient and tell her how much you love her than fighting back. Today’s the day to keep out of it.

Punctuality

Whether you are ordering a gift or planning to spend the day with her, make sure your schedule can handle it. Don’t arrange things in the last-minute and make sure you order the flowers on time. Doing everything at the last moment could make all of your plans fail due to anxiety.

Budget

Not all of us are millionaires. if you don’t have the right budget for the item you really want then try discount items of the same variety. The key is to search and search if you want to find products which are low-cost but is high quality. If not you can stick to handmade crafts or even a simple gift voucher. Don’t make the gift way too simple, mothers need your appreciation and giving her way too much of a simple gift(especially if she knows that you got a bonus last month) would definitely hurt her feelings.

Being the Detective

It’s essential to snoop around a little bit. If you want to find out what to buy, but don’t make it way too suspicious. Don’t compete with your siblings to get the better gift. Remember even if it’s a handmade scrapbook, your mom would appreciate anything from you since you are the most important thing for her.
